About Lumen Energy

Lumen Energy is the modern solar broker for commercial real estate. We partner with leading real estate owners to turn their rooftops into revenue. Lumen delivers rigorous portfolio analysis, creates transparent competition among top developers, and provides white-glove service throughout. Our efficient, technology-backed approach gives our customers clarity, confidence, and reliable returns—scaling clean energy without added complexity.

We are proud to be among the fastest growing companies in our category and are backed by world-class VCs like Lowercarbon Capital, Moxxie Ventures, and Designer Fund. We seek colleagues who are passionate about making real change in the built environment, excited to work at the leading edge of energy and real estate, and want to contribute to a high-performing team. Join us on our mission to profitably decarbonize buildings.

The Role

We’re hiring a Business Operations / Growth Lead to drive the next chapter of Lumen’s growth. You'll support Lumen's largest customers in navigating complex solar and battery storage project transactions, shape Lumen’s operations, and influence our growth strategy along the way.

You’ll be the face of Lumen to some of the most sophisticated players in real estate, private equity, and clean energy. You will serve as a trusted advisor who can deeply understand their businesses, navigate complex transaction negotiations, and bring high-value projects over the finish line.

This is a pivotal role reporting directly to the Director, Business Development where you will work together to originate solar and battery storage projects via a novel technology platform, secure competitive financing offers, and support commercial real estate owners and renewable energy project developers in signing leases or power purchase agreements.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead high-stakes, analytical conversations — articulate project returns, key risks, and align interests among diverse stakeholder groups.

  • Build trusted relationships with senior decision-makers (CFOs, Asset Managers, Heads of Sustainability, Portfolio Managers) across institutional commercial real estate.

  • Partner with senior leadership to advance complex deals by owning deal milestones, next steps, and communication both internally and externally.

  • Translate financial and operational insights into actionable go-to-market strategy, working closely with Product, Operations, and Marketing.

  • Refine and professionalize sales systems and materials (CRM discipline, pipeline analytics, deal modeling).

  • Represent Lumen with professionalism externally at conferences and through customer presentations.

  • Contribute to strategic growth initiatives, including market segmentation, pricing, and channel partnerships.

About you
  • 2–4 years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, commercial real estate, or similar analytical roles.

  • Eager to own commercial outcomes and thrive in customer-facing environments.

  • Financially fluent: comfortable building financial models, communicating return metrics, and understanding asset-level returns.

  • Detail-oriented and process-driven, yet entrepreneurial — you bring structure without bureaucracy.

  • Confident communicator with executive presence; capable of engaging senior real estate and finance leaders.

  • Bias for action and entrepreneurial energy — you're comfortable building as you go.

  • Willing to travel as needed (~1-2x / quarter) for key meetings, conferences, and events.

  • Helpful if you have experience with commercial real estate or distributed solar & storage project transactions.

Why Lumen?
  • Mission with urgency: You’ll help profitably decarbonize buildings — one of the biggest levers in the fight against climate change

  • High impact: This is a key role in a fast-growing company

  • Exceptional team: Work alongside former leaders, engineers, and builders from top-tier companies

  • Growth environment: We support your career goals and personal development

  • Competitive compensation: Includes base salary, variable compensation, equity, and full benefits

Lumen Energy is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diverse perspectives and are committed to building an inclusive workplace. US work authorization required. We are unable to sponsor H1B visas at this time.
