ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer II to join our Data & Analytics team. This individual will be the primary owner and leader of all Tableau development across the organization, responsible for everything from dashboard design and data storytelling to Tableau administration, data modeling, and preparing data for reporting.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent SQL skills, advanced experience with BI tools, particularly Tableau, and a deep understanding of data modeling principles. This role will play a critical part in delivering both internal and client-facing dashboards, driving self service analytics, and supporting the governance and administration of our BI infrastructure. You will work cross-functionally to ensure that dashboards are not only visually compelling but also actionable, reliable, and aligned with business needs. You will play a critical role in leading self-service analytics adoption, supporting BI governance, and maintaining our Tableau infrastructure.

You'll sit at the intersection of data engineering, product strategy, and business execution powering insights across every team with well-architected, high-impact analytics experiences.

This position is an individual contributor role.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Own and lead all Tableau development, with a focus on designing and customizing complex dashboards that address both broad organizational metrics and highly specific data needs across multiple product lines. 
    • This includes advanced data storytelling, user-centric visualization, and ensuring consistency in branding and experience across all reports.
  • Enable descriptive/predictive and prescriptive analytics resulting from advanced analytic modeling for large datasets (preferably in the healthcare space)
  • Work with data analysts and analytics engineers to design, develop, and maintain data models across multiple domains, data sources and products to support scalable and performant analytics.
    • This includes preparing and transforming data for reporting use, working with dbt, SQL, and other tools to ensure clean, reliable datasets.
  • Manage Tableau administration- permissions, governance, data source optimization, and content lifecycle.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, customer success, and analytics teams to translate requirements into insightful, actionable dashboards.
  • Develop and enforce BI best practices, including QA practices, naming conventions, documentation, and version control for dashboards and data models.
  • Enable self-service analytics by designing intuitive, flexible dashboards and supporting user onboarding and training.
  • Partner with Security and Engineering teams to enable secure analytics infrastructure, ensuring data privacy and security compliance across BI workflows.
  • Support and refine internal and client-facing reporting workflows, ensuring data accuracy, timely delivery, and visual clarity.
  • Monitor and improve dashboard performance, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
  • Stay current on BI trends and Tableau updates, continuously driving improvements in visualization and reporting capabilities.
  • Ensure governance and content quality in other BI tools and reporting within the organization, ensure consistent use of naming conventions, and access control.
    • This includes promoting consistency in reporting standards, UX, defining and maintaining data dictionaries to ensure a unified analytics experience.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 4-5 years of experience in business intelligence and data visualization including and not limited to thought leadership in data story-telling, dashboard and report design
  • Expert level proficiency with Tableau
  • Expert level proficiency with SQL and relational databases/database structures.
  • Experience designing, developing and operationalizing data models suitable for analytics and reporting (both at the database level and BI tool)
  • Experience working with data and analytics services within cloud platforms (preferably AWS).
  • Basic working knowledge of medical and pharmacy claims data
  • Defining reporting strategy based on organizational KPIs and client expectations
  • Ability to communicate analysis to business partners and clients both in writing and verbally.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of responsible AI practice.
  • Experienced with developing memos, and presentations to deliver data and insights to stakeholders and the executive team.
  • Proven ability to guide standards and provide thought leadership in BI

EXTRA CREDIT:

  • Understanding and experience in analytics engineering platforms like DBT
  • Certified Tableau analyst
  • Working knowledge of Python or a comparable programming language used for data analysis.
  • Understanding of the PBM industry
  • Experience in data orchestration tools like Airflow.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data regulations (HIPAA) and best practices.

SALARY: $100,000-$125,000

Offer amounts for both remote and in office roles are influenced by geographic location.
