Business Development Representative at Alt Legal (Remote)

Position Overview
We are looking for a dynamic, high-performing Sales Development Representative who is independent and self-motivated and thrives in an environment where drive and creativity is valued. You will be supported by a team of prospectors, data professionals, and marketers who will provide a stream of target contacts and inbound leads. You will be responsible for outbound activity to create interest, understand prospects’ needs, and develop credibility. Your activity will result in appointments for new business with prospective customers. You will also actively shadow field sales executives to learn the field sales motion. To be successful in this role, you do not need any formal sales experience; you must be resourceful, resilient, outgoing, personable, highly active, and comfortable on the phone.
At Alt Legal, we are committed to your personal and professional growth, and this position is part of an informal training program designed to provide the experience and training you need to grow into a field sales role within Alt Legal. As such, you will report directly to the VP of Sales, who will monitor your progress, and provide ongoing coaching and support.
Compensation includes a base salary, as well as commission and bonuses related to personal and team performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and qualify interest in Alt Legal through outbound and inbound phone calls and emails
- Cold call prospects to develop interest and schedule high-quality appointments for field sales executives
- Work with prospective customers to understand their key challenges and qualify potential leads
- Shadow live product demos to learn the value of Alt Legal and how to win opportunities
- Participate in 1:1 trainings and sales meetings to refine sales and product knowledge
- Participate at in-person and virtual industry events, including domestic and international trademark and IP conferences, product showcases, and customer appreciation events, as needed
- Collaborate with sales, support, and customer success teams
Must-Haves:
- Bachelor’s degree or at least 2 years of relevant work experience
- Exceptional communication skills via phone and email
- Proven creative problem-solving approach and strong analytical skills
- Highly organized self-starter with the ability to handle multiple projects and workstreams
- High activity level and stamina - curious and inquisitive
- Desire and ability to move up within our organization
- Humility to recognize what you don’t know
- Thrives as both an individual contributor AND in a highly-collaborative team environment
- Good sense of humor
Bonus Points:
- High activity transactional sales experience, preferably in a B2B environment in the legal industry, with a history of exceeding lead targets
- Proficiency with Salesforce (or comparable CRM system) and HubSpot
- Demonstrated interest in intellectual property and/or the legal issues surrounding SaaS businesses
- Experience developing interest and qualifying opportunities for SaaS platforms
