About the role
Halter is a US company that started in New Zealand, now managing over 200,000 cattle across hundreds of customers throughout New Zealand, Australia and the USA.
Halter is one of the world’s fastest-growing agritech companies, and the most transformative technology available in pasture-based grazing. With Halter’s cattle collars and app, ranchers can virtually fence and shift their cattle, and proactively monitor cattle locations and behavior. We’re looking for a hungry and driven salesperson to help grow Halter throughout the US. A ‘never give up’ attitude is crucial for this role. You’ll be a significant contributor to the growth and success of Halter in the US, unlocking change for an entire industry.
Our Business Development reps say it’s such a privilege connecting new customers with Halter - the deep sense of pride they have in seeing their customers thrive with Halter by running more productive and sustainable operations. To do this, you’ll use deep customer understanding and sales skills to drive the full sales process. You’ll convert customers by running a deep consultation with them about their operation, crafting a bespoke proposal and ROI with Halter. Salary: $90K/yr - $120K/yr + variable component
This role is based in Kansas or Oklahoma with travel required as part of the position.
What your day could look like
- Manage and nurture your pipeline of opportunities. Source new leads through proactive outreach, referrals, industry events and other channels. Field and respond to inbound demand. Screen and qualify your leads.
- Lead deep discovery and consultations with ranchers about their operation. Identify the opportunities unique to them. Craft a bespoke proposal and ROI with Halter.
- Guide the opportunity through the latter stages of the deal, including through negotiation. Close and convert the customer.
- Collaborate closely with the Customer Success team to ensure the customer has an exceptional experience and launch with Halter.
- Provide support, insight and communication to help foster trusting and enduring relationships with customers as they progress through onboarding and deployment.
- Advocate for US customer needs, for example with Marketing, Product & Engineering teams.
- Get active in the market by representing Halter at industry events, at Halter demonstrations and at bespoke local events you would organise.
- Work with the team to continually optimize the sales process, ensuring it is fit for the US market as we scale.
Who are we looking for

You’ll have examples of how you delivered results and overcame obstacles in the pursuit of something you are passionate about. You’ll be adaptable in high-stakes environments. You are clinical - always prepared for key engagements and an effective communicator. You are ambitious while also having genuine humility. You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a high degree of freedom.
- Sales Skills: A minimum of 4 years of experience in value-based, end-to-end sales. You’ll have a proven history of successfully sourcing new leads, securing meetings with new leads, working through a consultation process with that lead, and following through the final negotiation stages to ultimately closing the deal.
- You must have a style that naturally clicks with ranchers.
- Experience selling to beef ranchers, or within the agriculture sector would be nice to have but not mandatory
- Experience selling software/technology would also be nice to have but not mandatory
