About the Role:

This is a pre-sales role focused on public sector accounts. Our Business Development Team serves as the first point of contact for government agencies, federal contractors, and public institutions looking to enhance their cybersecurity.

As a Senior BDR on our Public Sector team, you will focus on identifying and engaging decision-makers within government organizations and helping them understand how SecurityScorecard supports regulatory compliance, third-party risk management, and cybersecurity operations. You will work closely with the public sector field sales team to qualify leads and set up high-value conversations with agency leaders.

This role provides an opportunity to develop a strong foundation in cybersecurity sales and public sector procurement. It is a great stepping stone for those interested in advancing into enterprise government sales, federal account management, or cybersecurity consulting.

This role is focused on public sector sales prospecting. You will be reaching out to federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as defense contractors, education institutions, and healthcare organizations that must meet strict cybersecurity regulations.

We’re looking for someone who is:
✅ Passionate about government sales and public sector engagement
✅ Interested in cybersecurity and compliance frameworks like NIST, CMMC, and FedRAMP
✅ Persistent and strategic in engaging with government stakeholders
✅ Curious and willing to learn about cybersecurity challenges in the public sector

Responsibilities:

  • Prospect and Book Meetings for Public Sector Sales Reps (FSRs)
  • Identify and Qualify Government Leads: Use research, outreach, and inbound interest to connect with CISOs, IT directors, and procurement officers at federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Educate Public Sector Stakeholders: Explain the importance of continuous cybersecurity monitoring, third-party risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Use CRM and Outreach Tools Effectively: Maintain accurate records in Salesforce and Outreach.io to track leads and follow-up actions.
  • Work with Marketing & Channel Teams: Support public sector webinars, government cybersecurity events, and partner initiatives.
  • Stay Updated on Public Sector Compliance & Trends: Monitor changes in NIST, FISMA, CMMC, FedRAMP, and other federal/state regulations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in business development, sales, or government contracting
  • Experience with CRM tools (Salesforce, Outreach.io) and lead generation tools
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to engage government stakeholders and navigate public sector sales processes
  • Self-starter comfortable working in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
  • Interest in developing expertise in cybersecurity sales and public sector engagements

Additional Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of public sector procurement cycles and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience researching and identifying government cybersecurity needs.
  • Familiarity with NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, or CMMC compliance frameworks

Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary, stock options, a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, unlimited PTO, parental leave, tuition reimbursements, and much more!

The estimated salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000. Actual compensation for the position is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to affordability, skills, qualifications and experience, and may vary from the range. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible for annual performance-based incentive compensation awards and equity, among other company benefits.
