The Automotive OEM Manager is a vital role focused on strengthening Evonik's market presence in the automotive sector while delivering critical insights that inform the strategic direction of the business.
In this capacity, the manager will act as the regional interface between OEMs and Evonik's automotive team, fostering collaboration across research, application development, engineering, marketing, and sales. Key responsibilities include overseeing product launches, application initiatives, and system introductions at OEMs, as well as managing the approval processes and specifications required by OEMs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leading and improving Evonik’s OEM penetration at assigned OEMs to identify, define, and develop future growth opportunities for Evonik High Performance Polymers
Develop and implement a networking strategy to generate new sales opportunities through OEMs, including identifying and recommending participation in relevant conferences, seminars, and trade meetings
Conduct market analysis to identify industry-specific trends, assess technologies, and initiate profitable growth projects
Oversee budgetary planning and market analysis for new products and projects
Coordinate the launch process for new products, technologies, and systems at OEMs within the relevant market segment
Assist in medium- and long-term strategic planning based on anticipated market developments
Support activities within relevant Evonik Global Industry Teams
Support long-cycle automotive programs from early application development through launch and lifecycle management
REQUIREMENTS
Technical Master’s Degree or equivalent experience, coupled with 5 to 10 years of relevant industry experience (highly preferred)
Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred; strong business acumen and commercial understanding considered equally valuable
Strong understanding of financial and marketing techniques for evaluating projects, products, and markets
Proven business development experience with the ability to engage in technical discussions with customers and partners regarding product applications
Excellent interpersonal skills to thrive in a multicultural global matrix organization
Established network within North American domestic and transplant automotive OEMs, preferably in the polymers or materials fields, with experience in vehicle system engineering or program management
Outstanding written and oral communication skills; proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Strong business and technical background, enabling effective engagement in technical discussions with customers and partners
Business fluent in Spanish language skills are a plus
PLEASE NOTE: This role is home-office based, with work primarily centered in Southeast Michigan. Candidates must live in or be willing to relocate to Southeast Michigan or within approximately 90 minutes of the Greater Detroit area to be considered for this role. Regular, in-person engagement with local automotive teams, OEMs, and Tier 1 suppliers is a core part of the role.
COMPENSATION DETAILS
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. (Specific rate to be determined, but not limited to, geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data).
Pay Range: $108,500 - $180,900
