What is the role?

We are searching for a highly motivated Business Development Manager to lead our governmental sales efforts. This role will focus on identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities with key government agencies and contractors primarily in the US, including the US Department of Defense, NASA, and other relevant government agencies. You will be responsible for building strong, long-term relationships, developing proposals, and overseeing strategic plans to achieve company goals. 

This role is based in Denver, Colorado, where we are building a high-performing and fast-paced team. The position will be primarily on-site and in person at the office, with occasional travel to industry conferences and visiting customers.

Some of your daily tasks will include:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive US government strategy, with a heavy emphasis on Space Force and defense related agencies and allied defense organizations. 
  • Identify, engage, and cultivate relationships with key decision-makers within federal agencies, military branches, and government-affiliated institutions. 
  • Generate and close high-value deals with a minimum annual sales order target of $10 million. 
  • Lead and manage the entire sales cycle from initial conversations, proposal development, and securing long-term contracts. 
  • Drive engagement with US aerospace and defense contractors, primes, space agencies, and institutional stakeholders to position our satellite infrastructure for procurement. 
  • Identify new business opportunities within government-funded space initiatives, defense programs, and international collaboration efforts. 
  • Represent the company at industry events, government briefings, and policy discussions to strengthen market presence. 
  • Stay informed on government funding programs, procurement trends, and policy changes impacting the space sector. 

What do we look for?

  • 10+ years of experience in business development, sales, or contract acquisition within the space, defense, or aerospace industries, with a strong track record of closing high-value government contracts. 
  • A deep network within the DoD and defense sector, and other US government agencies involved in space infrastructure and services like NASA and NOAA. 
  • Strong understanding of US government procurement processes, funding mechanisms, and export control regulations (EAR and ITAR). 
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal product, technical, legal, and executive teams to align BD strategies with company objectives. 
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills tailored for government stakeholders. 
  • Willingness to travel frequently for client meetings, conferences, and industry-related engagements in the US and internationally.
  • Based in the Denver area or willing to relocate 
  • US citizenship.

Salary range: $140,000 - $210,000 per year, plus an incentive-based commission structure. The District of Columbia requires listing salary details. The salary will likely be within this range although it may differ based on experience level or other factors.
