Scope of PositionI-CON is the leading manufacturer of intelligent plumbing controls in the penal and correctional industry. It is a solutions-driven company with over 200 patents and patents pending, providing the industry with gold-standard water management systems domestically and abroad. This highly motivated, technical, sales-oriented individual will be responsible for driving growth for I-CON’s new construction division by developing project opportunities, influencing specifications, and building relationships with architects, engineers, contractors, installers, correctional facility stakeholders, and distribution partners.The role will focus on identifying and advancing new construction projects from early design through award, positioning I-CON as the preferred intelligent plumbing controls solution for correctional and detention facilities across the assigned region.

  • This position reports to the Senior Business Development Manager. This role is remote and is based in the United States - East Region.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, manage, and grow I-CON’s new construction pipeline within the assigned region, with emphasis on correctional and detention facility projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with architects, MEP engineering firms, construction managers, general contractors, installers, distributors, owners, and facility stakeholders.
  • Influence project specifications by positioning I-CON products and solutions with design professionals, specifiers, and decision-makers early in the construction cycle.
  • Partner with regional Account Executives to identify, qualify, prioritize, and advance new construction opportunities from existing accounts and targeted prospect accounts.
  • Conduct field promotional activity, cold outreach, project research, trade show follow-up, and industry networking to generate qualified leads and secure new business.
  • Prepare and deliver customer presentations, technical product demonstrations, and continuing education-style presentations that communicate I-CON’s value proposition.
  • Maintain current knowledge of market trends, competitive activity, construction project activity, plumbing technologies, code considerations, and customer requirements affecting the correctional market.
  • Provide market feedback, competitive intelligence, and voice-of-customer insights to Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing to support growth initiatives.
  • Represent I-CON at key national and regional trade shows, industry events, customer meetings, and project planning discussions.
  • Maintain accurate opportunity, account, activity, and forecast information in applicable CRM and sales management systems.
  • Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by the Director of Sales or Company management.
  • Demonstrate Watts’ values of integrity, accountability, continuous improvement and innovation, and transparency in all customer and internal interactions.
  • Travel Requirements: Approximately 50–75% travel is required, including customer visits, project meetings, trade shows, and internal business meetings.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Sales, Construction Management, or a related field; in the absence of a degree, equivalent relevant work experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of successful business development, technical sales, specification sales, construction sales, or related commercial sales experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new accounts, generate project opportunities, conduct cold outreach, and manage a multi-state or regional sales territory.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders in complex sales cycles, including architects, engineers, contractors, installers, distributors, owners, and end users.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, communication, relationship-building, and closing skills.
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical product information and customer value propositions.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting or exceeding business objectives.
  • Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete required background checks and pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in plumbing, water management, correctional facilities, detention construction, institutional construction, or engineered building products.
  • Experience calling on architects, MEP engineering firms, specification writers, general contractors, construction managers, installers, and distribution partners.
  • Familiarity with project tracking tools, CRM systems, construction bid databases, or specification development processes.
  • Proven ability to identify projects early in the design cycle and convert specifications into awarded business.

Working ConditionsWhile performing the job duties, you will work remotely in an office environment and travel frequently to customer locations, project sites, trade shows, industry events, and internal meetings. You may be required to occasionally travel to and work in a Company office location for meetings, trainings, or as otherwise required by Company management. Physical RequirementsSpecific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Ability to remain seated at a desk or workstation for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks like typing on a keyboard or using a mouse for extended periods.
  •   Ability to physically move around the office, organize or transport files, packages, or other office-related materials.
  • Ability to read documents, use a computer, and perform data entry tasks
  • Ability to communicate clearly with management and coworkers, particularly in meetings or phone calls.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, printers, phones, and copiers.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry light objects, such as office supplies, documents, or small equipment.
