As a Business Consultant on the Sales Illustration team, you will play a critical role in the delivery and evolution of MassMutual's Disability Income (DI) illustration capabilities. This role serves as the primary subject matter expert for DI products within the illustration ecosystem, partnering closely with Product, Legal, Compliance, Marketing, Technology, and Distribution to ensure accurate, compliant, and effective illustration support for both new business and in-force experiences.
This position is ideal for a delivery-oriented SME who combines deep DI product knowledge with strong execution skills, and who thrives in cross-functional environments where clarity, precision, and follow-through matter.

The Impact
- Serve as the primary DI subject matter expert for illustration initiatives, enhancements, and defect resolution, supporting both new business and in-force use cases.
- Execute on DI-related illustration projects and roadmap items, ensuring requirements are clearly defined, reviewed, and delivered as committed.
- Partner closely with DI Product Management to translate product changes (e.g., re-pricing, riders, underwriting updates) into accurate illustration requirements and timelines.
- Collaborate with Legal and Compliance to ensure illustration logic, outputs, and disclosures meet regulatory and policy requirements.
- Work with Marketing and Distribution partners to validate that DI illustrations effectively support advisor selling, education, and client decision-making.
- Participate actively in cross-functional working sessions, providing clear DI guidance and identifying risks, gaps, or dependencies early.
- Support testing, validation, and readiness activities to ensure DI illustration changes are accurate, complete, and production-ready.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of intake, prioritization, and delivery processes for DI illustration work.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or 4+ years' experience in financial services or life insurance.
- 3+ years of experience in Protection or Wealth Management, with a strong understanding of products, riders, underwriting considerations, and policy mechanics.
Ideal Qualifications
- Experience supporting DI product launches, re-pricing, or product changes within an illustration or sales enablement environment.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance considerations specific to DI illustrations and disclosures.
- Experience participating in technology-enabled initiatives, including system enhancements, platform upgrades, or process improvements.
- Ability to synthesize complex DI product rules into clear, actionable requirements for technical and non-technical partners.
- Comfortable operating in a matrixed organization, influencing outcomes without direct authority.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and manage time effectively.
- Demonstrated experience delivering work through cross-functional project or product teams.
- Strong ability to document and communicate business requirements clearly and accurately.
- Proven ability to work effectively with Product, Legal, Compliance, and Marketing partners.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly to diverse
