Position Summary
The Business Analyst II – Compliance plays a key role in supporting Compliance-driven business analysis initiatives of moderate complexity. Working under intermittent supervision, this role independently elicits, analyzes, validates, and manages business and technical requirements driven by regulatory, investor, and internal policy needs. The Business Analyst II serves as a primary liaison between Compliance stakeholders and Information Systems teams, ensuring accurate interpretation and implementation of compliance requirements.
Compensation
This role is an exempt position with a targeted salary range of $82,506/year to $118,000/year.
Compensation at Guild is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to local and federal minimum wage requirements, education, level of experience, and applicant’s geographical location.
Essential Functions
- Work independently with Compliance, Legal, Risk, Operations, and Technology partners to document project objectives and compliance outcomes.
- Identify stakeholders and analyze project scope and regulatory drivers.
- Elicit, analyze, and validate business and functional requirements for compliance-driven initiatives.
- Decompose high-level regulatory and policy requirements into detailed functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Document business rules, quality attributes, and compliance constraints.
- Create current- and future-state process flows and support gap analysis.
- Document system changes using narratives, diagrams, and visual models.
- Develop and execute effective testing strategies to validate compliance requirements and assess cross-system impacts.
- Support audit readiness, remediation activities, and regulatory change management efforts.
- Participate in prioritization and business justification discussions for compliance initiatives.
- Reuse and standardize requirements artifacts where applicable.
- Mentor Business Analyst I team members on requirements documentation and compliance analysis practices.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree directly related to the position or equivalent practical experience, preferred.
- Minimum four years experience of relevant experience in Business Analysis, Compliance, Risk, Legal, or Mortgage Lending Technology roles.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to work well independently or within a team.
- Accurate data entry.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills required.
- Strong understanding of mortgage compliance concepts, regulatory change drivers, and policy interpretation.
- Experience translating regulatory, investor, and state-specific requirements into system and process changes.
- Hands-on experience supporting regulatory initiatives impacting loan origination, including:
- Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA)
- Mortgage Call Report (MCR)
- Loan Officer and state licensing
- Experience supporting audit and regulatory examination readiness, including validation, testing, and remediation activities.
- Ability to validate system behavior against regulatory, reporting, and investor rules.
- Experience supporting document generation and closing platforms (e.g., Docutech), including:
- Regulatory document logic
- Form updates
- Testing and downstream impact analysis.
- Familiarity with multi-state regulatory requirements and exams.
- Knowledge of MISMO standards and Qualified Mortgage (QM) requirements is a plus.
- Experience working within Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid SDLC methodologies.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to simplify complex workflows and requirements.
- Ability to produce clear documentation, including requirements, process flows, and visual models.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and collaborative documentation tools.

Supervision
Job Scope: Assists in a variety of duties at the direction of more senior staff and contributes as a team member and resource to others in the unit.
Complexity: Problems encountered are often complex and may involve significant resource coordination and availability, evaluating and resolving discrepancies with data, analyses, processes, etc. using own expertise and judgment.

Interaction/Supervision: Works under broad direction with some latitude for independent actions; guided by professional standards, desired outcomes and unit/project/program specifications.
Requirements
- Work is primarily sedentary; mobility in an office setting.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
- Regularly required to accurately perceive, distinguish and interpret information received visually and through audio; e.g., words, numbers and other data broadcasted aloud/viewed on a screen, as well as print and other media.
- Office environment – moderate noise, no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
- Travel 5% or less.
- Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, and make timely decisions in the context of a workflow.
- This role requires effective adaptation to workplace stressors, including customer service complaints, security responsibilities, and competing priorities.
- Must be able to adhere to process protocol. Must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner.
- Work is primarily performed during the business week, Monday - Friday.
