Job Description:

Job Title:            Business Analyst with Data Experience (Azure Focus)

Location:            Washington DC (4 days onsite per week)

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled Business Analyst with strong data experience, particularly in Azure environments, to manage and translate business requirements into technical solutions. This role involves working closely with stakeholders across financial, operational, and HR domains to capture data needs, define specifications, and collaborate with technical teams to deliver data-driven solutions.

Scope of Work

• Elicit, analyze, and document detailed business requirements related to financial, operational, and HR datasets within Azure-based data platforms.
• Collaborate with technical teams to translate business needs into clear functional and technical specifications.
• Perform data analysis activities including profiling, lineage tracing, and quality validation to ensure data integrity across pipelines and reports.
• Define and document data mappings from current source systems to target data models such as Lakehouse or data warehouses.
• Facilitate communication between business users and offshore development teams to ensure alignment and quality deliverables.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by coordinating with business users to validate data outputs and reports.
• Maintain traceability from business requirements through to final delivery, ensuring compliance with data governance and quality standards.

Technical Skills Required

• Strong understanding of Azure data services, especially Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and related data integration tools.
• Experience with SQL for data querying, analysis, and validation.
• Familiarity with data engineering concepts including ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, data lineage, and data quality assessment.
• Knowledge of hybrid data environments involving on-premises databases (Oracle, SQL Server) and cloud platforms.
• Ability to work with data warehouses, data lakes, and data lakehouses.
• Proven experience in gathering and documenting requirements for data and analytics projects.
