Stok is seeking a Building Performance Project Manager to join our Energy Engineering Team. As a consultant at Stok, you will work with some of the world’s most innovative companies, including those influencing iconic real estate programs and projects for positive impact. Ideal candidates will be an experienced consultant with a strong background in building science, sustainable design and operational practices, green and healthy building rating systems, code compliance, and sustainable business and strategy. PROJECT MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead energy modeling projects for energy performance improvements, Carbon Emissions Strategy, Net Zero, LEED, and code compliance
- Read and review Architectural and MEP drawings
- Understand energy baselines (Title 24, ASHRAE 90.1, IECC), detailed envelope performance criteria, multiple types of HVAC systems, daylighting concepts, lighting targets, and renewable energy systems
- Develop results, identify opportunities, anticipate next steps, spot errors or inconsistencies
- Prepare and maintain LEED documentation for energy-related credits
- Prepare and submit energy code compliance permit applications
- Prepare and submit energy documentation for rebate and incentive programs
- Use a broad range of performance modeling tools to analyze design improvements focusing on energy and carbon reduction, human comfort, passive design, and associated cost impacts
- Lead internal and external meetings to communicate results and recommendations of analysis
- Coordinate with and mentor junior staff members
- Perform QC on junior staff member work products
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to guide energy performance related to overall green building certification efforts and portfolio sustainability and carbon reduction plans
- Coordinate with Project Managers from other service lines to deliver integrated cross-team sustainability services to clients
- Collaborate on development of internal standards and tools
- Track updates to relevant certifications, standards, and industry trends
- Set and manage to project budgets and schedules
- Interact with clients during all project phases; document and communicate discussions and resolutions with project team members to align deliverables to the project scope
- Work with Account Managers and Client Solutions group to develop project scopes and budgets
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
- Advanced understanding of building science principles
- 3+ years of experience in building energy modeling
- Experience in energy modeling software packages such as IESVE, Design Builder, OpenStudio, and CBECC-Com
- Working knowledge in supporting modeling software such as SketchUp, EnergyPlus, AutoCAD, and/or Revit
- Familiarity with high-performance green building rating systems and building codes and standards, including LEED, ILFI, ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, Title-24 Part 6 standards
- Fundamental understanding of major tenets of high-performance design including renewable and alternative energy strategies, passive design, daylighting, embodied energy, indoor environmental quality, material composition, water efficiency, life cycle assessment, and built environment planning
- Familiarity with building decarbonization
- Experience with developing project reports and communicating analysis and recommendations to clients
- Experience with developing project scopes and budgets
- Experience with data analysis and visualization
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships within the project design team
- Organizational skills including, but not limited to, the ability to handle multiple demands and assignments, the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently, and the ability to manage and delegate available resources.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office suite of software applications.
- Industry certification applicable to building performance including but not limited to BEMP, HBDP, BEAP, LEED AP, WELL AP a plus
- EIT or PE Licensure a plus
- CABEC Certified Energy Analyst (CEA) a plus
- Familiarity with Python or other programming language a plus
