At Out of the Box Technology, the Bookkeeper I plays a key role in supporting our clients’ financial operations by ensuring transactions are processed accurately, accounts are reconciled, and financial records stay organized. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, eager to grow their bookkeeping skills, and comfortable working in QuickBooks Online and/or Desktop.
Working closely with senior bookkeepers and accountants, you’ll help maintain accurate records, process payables and receivables, and assist with month-end close activities. It’s a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience while building a strong foundation in bookkeeping and client service.
Primary Responsibilities
Daily Bookkeeping & Transaction Management
- Enter daily financial data and perform routine bank and credit card reconciliations
- Record and categorize transactions in QuickBooks Online/Desktop
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable with attention to detail and timeliness
- Assist with payroll entry and recording from third-party providers
- Prepare basic financial reports, including balance sheets and profit & loss statements
- Communicate with clients to gather financial data and clarify entries
QuickBooks Expertise
- Set up and maintain clean and accurate QuickBooks files (QBO/QBD)
- Utilize bank feeds to efficiently categorize and reconcile transactions
- Generate standard QuickBooks reports for internal and client use
- Support payroll data entry and payroll tax filing processes when needed
Reconciliation & Compliance
- Ensure accuracy in transaction entry and resolve discrepancies
- Track and manage sales tax reporting for clients
- Support month-end and year-end close processes in collaboration with senior staff
- Assist with client audit preparation by gathering required documentation
Client and Vendor Communication
- Respond to client questions regarding invoices, reports, and QuickBooks functions
- Coordinate with vendors to manage bill processing and payments
- Record employee reimbursements and ensure expense documentation is complete
Operational Excellence & Growth
- Follow internal bookkeeping SOPs and best practices
- Stay informed on new QuickBooks features and accounting software updates
- Collaborate with more senior bookkeepers and accountants on reporting and advisory tasks

Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 1+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Proficient in QuickBooks Online and/or QuickBooks Desktop
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple client accounts
