Benefits Coordinator

Summary:

MediaNews Group is seeking a Benefits Coordinator to join our Corporate Benefits Department. This position will be working directly with the Benefits Manager responsible for administering benefits for employees across multiple states and companies. The Benefits Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. This person will also support the Disability Coordinator and Benefits Analyst with day-to-day administration of disability and vendor integrations.

This position is fully remote, however, candidates must reside in CO, FL, MA, MN, OK, PA, or TX

What you will do:

• Responds to day-to-day benefits inquiries from employees at all levels on plan provisions, benefit enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries

• Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information

• Monitors benefit elections through the Workday HCM system to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines

• Research communication, operational issues or other benefits related problems to root cause and resolution

• Troubleshoots and resolves file integration issues working with the HRIS department and various providers

• Assists new hires to ensure timely enrollment

• Performs quality checks of benefits-related data

• Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes

• Develops a variety of benefits communication throughout the year

• Assists in processing life status changes

• Assists with the open enrollment process and quarterly benefit communication updates

• Partners with the Benefits Analyst to prepare monthly billings for the various carriers and assists our internal Finance team with monthly reconciliations.

• Assists the Disability Coordinator with leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA

What you will bring:

• 2-3 years of experience with benefits administration

• Demonstrated expertise in day-to-day benefit administration, compliance including, COBRA, FMLA and disability programs

• Excellent customer service skills, both written and verbal, as well as organizational and time management skills

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Associate Degree in HR or related field, but experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for the education

Benefits and Compensation:

The salary range is $50,000 - $58,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, the Company offers eligible employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401k, as well as paid time off and select paid holidays (all benefits are based on eligibility).
