We are hiring a Back End Engineer to work on a pivotal Federal program that is making a positive impact on millions of Americans' daily lives.
What you'll be doing:
We are hiring a Backend Engineer to support the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on a program designed to modernize and centralize Medicare data into a secure, cloud-based platform, making it more accessible, reliable, and scalable for analytics, policy-making, and beneficiary services. As part of this effort, you’ll work with a collaborative engineering team to design and develop robust API endpoints and services, implement end-to-end testing solutions, and support backend systems that drive critical health data applications. Your work will directly contribute to improving how CMS manages and delivers Medicare services to millions of Americans.
What you’ll bring:
- 4+ years of experience developing backend services with Node.js and TypeScript
- A solid understanding of API design and backend systems architecture
- Experience with SQL/Postgres and familiarity with Java in backend development
- Hands-on experience with modern CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions)
- Familiarity with cloud computing services, especially AWS, and building within secure, scalable environments
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment with sprints and daily stand-ups
- Ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, including data scientists, UX, product, and software engineers
- Strong communication skills, teamwork mindset, and a passion for learning and adapting in a fast-moving environment
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Compensation:
At Oddball, it’s important each employee is compensated competitively and fairly. In alignment with state legal requirements. A range for the included position is listed below. Be advised, actual offer details are determined by job category, job location, and candidate skill level.
United States Wage Range: $110,000 – $145,000
