YOUR MISSION
Reporting to the IT Operations Manager, the Azure Cloud Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of our Azure Government cloud infrastructure and services. This role is critical to supporting our mission in the space industry, ensuring our cloud environment is secure, compliant, scalable, and optimized for performance. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Azure Government, infrastructure as code, containerization, and government security compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Azure Government Cloud Management
- Design, deploy, and manage Azure Government cloud infrastructure and services
- Implement and maintain Azure resources including virtual machines, storage, networking, and databases
- Ensure compliance with government security requirements including CMMC, FedRAMP, and ITAR
- Manage Azure subscriptions, resource groups, and cost optimization strategies
- Implement and maintain Azure governance policies, role-based access control (RBAC), and security best practices
- AVD setup and maintenance
- CI/CD and Infrastructure Automation
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep
- Automate deployment processes and operational tasks to improve efficiency and reduce errors
- Implement automated testing and validation processes for infrastructure changes
- Kubernetes and Container Management
- Deploy and manage Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters in Azure Government supporting the DevOps team
- Configure container orchestration, scaling, and monitoring
- Implement container security best practices and vulnerability scanning
- Manage containerized application deployments and updates
- Microsoft 365 GCC High Integration
- Integrate Azure services with Office 365 GCC High environment
- Manage hybrid identity solutions connecting Azure AD with O365 GCC High
- Develop automation workflows using Power Automate to streamline business processes
- Ensure seamless interoperability between Azure and M365 services
- Azure AI and Advanced Services
- Implement and manage Azure AI services including Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Services, and Machine Learning
- Design AI solutions that meet government security and compliance requirements
- Support data science and engineering teams with AI/ML infrastructure needs
- Network Security and Firewall Management
- Configure and manage Palo Alto Networks firewalls in Azure environments
- Implement network segmentation, VNets, NSGs, and Azure Firewall solutions
- Maintain VPN connections and ExpressRoute circuits for hybrid connectivity
- Monitor network traffic and respond to security incidents
- Monitoring and Operations
- Implement comprehensive monitoring using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
- Perform capacity planning and performance tuning
- Respond to incidents and conduct root cause analysis
- Document architecture, configurations, and operational procedures
- Participate in on-call rotation for critical infrastructure support
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 5+ years of experience administering Azure cloud environments
- Azure Government cloud experience with understanding of compliance requirements
- CI/CD pipeline experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
- Kubernetes experience, preferably with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Office 365 GCC High administration experience
- Power Automate proficiency for workflow automation
- Palo Alto Networks firewall configuration and management experience
- Azure AI services experience including implementation of AI/ML solutions
- Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, or Bash)
- Deep understanding of networking concepts, security principles, and cloud architecture
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or higher
- Additional Azure certifications highly valued (AZ-305, AZ-500, AZ-400)
- U.S. Citizen and eligible for DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
- Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI-102)
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
- Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA) or higher
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industries
- Familiarity with DoD Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide (SRG)
- Experience with GitOps practices and tools (ArgoCD, Flux)
- Current active DoD TS/SCI clearance
COMPENSATION
- Colorado Base Salary: $125,000-$170,000
- California Base Salary: $130,000-$175,000
- Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, location, and experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work Location—while we observe a hybrid work environment, you will need to be onsite as the business needs require. On an average week, you can expect to spend at least 3 days per week in office at either our Centennial, CO or our Long Beach, CA facilities.
