Seeking an experienced AWS Data Architect to lead the architecture and evolution of our Enterprise Unified Data Platform (UDP). This platform is a core enabler of healthcare data modernization, focused on democratizing access to data across healthcare administration, care management, and health informatics, while ensuring alignment with the foundational product-level UDP architecture.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the Enterprise UDP adheres to core principles of federated data design—avoiding redundant data duplication, leveraging virtualized access to domain UDPs, and promoting semantic unification across source systems. The ideal candidate will balance deep cloud architecture skills with strong platform alignment and governance discipline to build scalable, interoperable, and future-ready solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as the Enterprise UDP technical architect, ensuring full alignment with the Product UDP platform’s governance, security, and architectural direction.
• Design and implement federated data architecture using virtualization tools that connect to domain UDPs (e.g., MES, Care Management) and external sources (e.g., SDOH) without duplicating datasets.
• Lead the architecture of semantic layers to unify attributes across data sources and facilitate access control, data discovery, and request execution.
• Architect and scale AWS-native infrastructure components including Amazon S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, DMS, EventBridge, Athena, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, and KMS.
• Leverage PostgreSQL for reference and application data use cases, and PySpark for large-scale data transformation and processing workloads.
• Drive data lake and lakehouse architecture evolution, enabling ingestion, storage, cataloging, and virtualization of structured and unstructured datasets.
• Enable self-service data consumption by implementing virtualized access models integrated with tools like Tableau, Power BI, and NLP-based query engines.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, platform engineers, and DevOps teams to ensure reusable, governed, and secure cloud-native components.
• Support metadata management, data cataloging, RBAC, and auditability using AWS IAM, Glue Catalog, and associated services.
• Evaluate emerging AWS and data technologies, recommending adoption where they align with Enterprise UDP’s roadmap and federated principles.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in data architecture and engineering, with 5+ years building and scaling solutions on AWS.
• Deep experience with AWS services: Glue, Redshift, S3, Lambda, DMS, Athena, IAM, CloudTrail, etc.
• Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL, PySpark, and big data transformation tools and frameworks.
• Demonstrated expertise in federated data architecture, data virtualization, and semantic data modeling.
• Solid understanding of healthcare data domains such as Medicaid eligibility, claims, provider, member, and care management.
• Proven track record aligning to platform-level architecture and governance standards, avoiding siloed or point-specific implementations.
• Skilled in data cataloging, lineage, access control, and data quality enforcement.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional, agile environments.
