About the RoleSierra Space is seeking an exceptional Avionics Technician II to join our elite team at the cutting-edge "Victory Works" defense satellite production facility in Centennial, Colorado. This is your opportunity to work hands-on with next-generation satellite technology that directly enhances U.S. national security capabilities. You'll play a critical role in the production of our revolutionary satellite technology, working at the intersection of advanced avionics and space defense innovation.
As an Avionics Technician II at our Victory Works facility, you'll be at the forefront of defense satellite technology, installing, inspecting, testing, adjusting, and repairing sophisticated avionics equipment and systems that power our mission-critical aerospace vehicles. Your expertise will ensure the reliability and performance of our defense-grade avionics systems, directly contributing to the success of vital national security space missions. Working in a secure, state-of-the-art environment, you'll collaborate with top industry professionals to build technology that safeguards our nation from above.About You

What You'll Do
  • Install, inspect, test, adjust, and repair advanced avionics equipment and systems for the Sierra Space satellite systems

  • Perform precision equipment setup and maintenance activities in a defense-grade manufacturing environment

  • Use specialized measurement tools to fabricate fixtures for satellite components, including work with standard alloys and geometries

  • Execute precision cleaning essential for space-qualified hardware

  • Apply and maintain strict 5S, FOD, and ESD protocols in a controlled manufacturing environment

  • Demonstrate proper packaging and handling requirements for sensitive flight hardware

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to critical defense project timelines

  • Document and report issues discovered during inspections and tests with meticulous attention to detail

  • Support the integration of power systems, including solar array technologies, into satellite platforms

Minimum Qualifications
  • Typically 2+ years of related experience.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.

  • Familiarity with general best shop practices including PPE and shop safety requirements.

  • Ability to perform basic equipment setup and maintenance activities and display general mechanical aptitude and hand tool competency.

  • Able to use precision measurement tools and fabricate fixtures for use, including non-flight parts with standard alloys and simple geometry.

  • Ability to learn and perform precision cleaning and chemistry processes.

  • Ability to learn 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness.

  • Ability to demonstrate correct packaging and handling requirements for all hardware.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Formal training, degree, or certification in avionics, electronics, or a related technical field

  • IPC certification (J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, or similar) for electronics assembly

  • Hands-on experience with satellite systems, particularly power generation components

  • Proficiency reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams for aerospace applications

  • Knowledge of software tools for diagnostics and troubleshooting of advanced avionics systems

  • Strong problem-solving skills and exceptional attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities in a high-performance environment

  • Previous experience in defense or aerospace manufacturing environments



Compensation:

Pay Range:

$25.10 - $34.51

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required as this position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants. Adjudicative factors which affect the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations, and illegal drug use.
