We're Scan.com. We're building America's national imaging network: the infrastructure that connects patients, providers, and payers to faster, better-value diagnostic imaging. Thousands of patients move through our platform every day, and each is a real person waiting for an answer to a healthcare concern. We exist to get them that answer faster.

We manage the medical imaging pathway end-to-end. Providers order through a single point of entry, and from there, we run the entire medical diagnostic pathway. Managing the full pathway, rather than brokering pieces of it, is what lets us deliver imaging faster, at higher quality, and at a lower cost than the fragmented status quo.

We're looking for a Mid-Level Contracts Attorney at an exciting time. We've raised over $200m in funding to date, reached profitability, and are growing 100% year on year.
Millions of people wait too long for a diagnosis. Come help us fix that.

WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE IN THIS ROLE

You'll be a core member of our Legal team, reporting to our Senior Attorney and working side by side with them across the full contract lifecycle, from first draft and redline through negotiation, execution, and the systems and templates that keep it all running. You'll be the primary legal support for our Supply team, own our NDA process end to end, and help build the contracting infrastructure that lets a lean legal team scale. This is a hands-on role for someone who has a solid base in commercial contracting, is eager to deepen their healthcare transactional experience, and is equally interested in making the process better.
As a scale-up business, you can expect your role to develop over time. Here are some of the types of things you could be getting involved in:

  • Act as the legal point of contact for the Supply team on imaging center agreements, diagnostic services agreements, vendor and services agreements, and related amendments, assignments, and renewals.

  • Draft and redline agreements on Scan.com's paper, and review counterparty drafts against our standard positions, flagging deviations and recommending fallbacks.

  • Negotiate counterparty redlines on liability caps and indemnities, data and privacy terms, termination and renewal mechanics, and payment terms, escalating material issues with clear analysis and recommended options.

  • Prepare and negotiate business associate agreements and data processing agreements, including structures that run across multiple affiliated professional corporations.

  • Own the NDA process from intake through execution, knowing when an NDA is truly standard and when it carries hidden issues like non-solicits, residuals clauses, or overbroad definitions.

  • Administer our contract lifecycle management platform (LawVu), and design and build intake forms, workflows, approval routing, and automations for review, signature, and post-signature obligations.

  • Build and maintain our template library and negotiation playbooks, including merge fields and conditional logic, so agreements populate accurately and review is faster and more consistent.

  • Train business users on the system and on our contracting policies, including signature authority and the execution process.

  • Support healthcare regulatory compliance initiatives, including HIPAA and state privacy laws, the federal and state anti-kickback statutes, Stark, corporate practice of medicine, and fee-splitting, and translate those requirements into contract terms and workflows the business can follow.

  • Track open issues, negotiation history, key dates, and NDA volume and turnaround, and look for ways to reduce the business's dependence on Legal for routine requests.

WHAT YOU MIGHT BRING TO THE TABLE

You don't need to tick all the boxes to apply for this role. Whether it's your first role or your fifth role, we believe everyone can add value, learn, and grow. However, these might be some of the ways you are currently adding value:

  • A J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing in any U.S. state.

  • Solid commercial contracting experience, whether at a law firm, in-house, or in a legal operations role, with the confidence to run your own matters and a track record of working with limited oversight.

  • Strong drafting and redlining skills, including comfort with Word and Google Docs tracked changes and comments, and clean, purposeful redlines that are free of internal annotations when they go to the other side.

  • Sound commercial judgment, including knowing which points are worth fighting for and which to trade.

  • Clear, direct writing and the ability to explain legal risk to non-lawyers in practical terms.

  • Excellent organization, with the ability to manage many matters at once and follow through without being chased.

  • Healthcare legal experience, such as HIPAA, BAAs, AKS/Stark, corporate practice of medicine, or work with provider organizations, health systems, payors, or health tech (a strong plus).

  • Hands-on experience administering a CLM or legal workflow tool (LawVu, Ironclad), building template automation, or using e-signature platforms such as DocuSign (a strong plus).

  • A builder's mindset: comfortable in a fast-paced environment and excited to help create process as we scale.

AI REQUIREMENTS

At Scan.com, AI isn't a side project; it's how we work. We expect everyone to use AI to think faster, remove drudgery, and multiply their output. We care about judgment: knowing when AI makes you sharper, when it doesn't, and how to use it responsibly with patient data. We'll assess this in the way that matters for this role, using the tier below. You don't need to be an engineer. You need to reach for the best tool and get more done as a result.

For this role, you're expected to be AI-Amplified. AI is part of your daily workflow for drafting, analysis, and research, and you know how to check its output and use it responsibly with sensitive data.

  • AI is part of your daily default. You use it to draft, analyze, research, and pressure-test your own thinking.

  • You can show concrete examples where AI made your work meaningfully faster or better.

  • You know its failure modes: you check its work, and you don't paste sensitive data into public tools.

  • Assessment: we'll ask you to walk through how you'd use AI to tackle a real task from the role.

One assessment principle across all tiers: we're testing judgment and adaptability, not whether you've memorized today's tools. Tools change quarterly; the ability to learn and apply them is what compounds.

A VIEW ON OUR CULTURE

We're building something that matters. Every scan we speed up is a real person waiting on an answer, and that urgency runs through everything we do. We move fast, we own outcomes, and take pride in our output. If you like ambiguity, working with ambitious people, and want your work to visibly move the needle, you'll feel at home here.

HOW WE WILL INTERVIEW YOU

We keep our interview process short and sweet. Here are the stages you can expect, but we might switch up the order depending on team availability:

  1. 30-minute introductory phone call with a member of our Talent Team.

  2. If it feels like there is an initial fit for all, we will invite you to a 45-minute video call with the hiring manager. This is a more structured interview that will deep-dive into the role and technical needs.

  3. 'Scan Standard' interview, where our panel screens for values alignment and the success factors that matter at Scan.com. You will also be assessed on your AI fluency at the stage and depth relevant to your role (see AI Requirements above).

  4. Meet the founders and/or other team members. Again, the length varies depending on how many people are involved and whether in person or via video call.

  5. Offer!

WHAT WE OFFER

We go beyond the basics with our benefits package. We believe great work starts with supporting our people. Here's what you can expect from us:

  • Salary range of $150,000 - $170,000

  • Flexible remote or hybrid work options

  • Medical, vision, and dental coverage

  • 28+ days of paid time off across PTO and wellbeing days, so you can show up at your best

  • Paid parental leave

  • 401k retirement plan

  • All the equipment you need to do your best work

  • Inclusive, people-first policies designed by our team, for our team

  • Atlanta office perks: Complimentary team lunch every Wednesday, on-site gym access, roof terrace, and on-site lunch options.
