About Workshop Ventures

Workshop Ventures is a venture studio that partners with founders to build startups in climate and education. Led by Chad and Eleanor Laurans, co-founders of SimpliSafe, our team of entrepreneurs, engineers, and strategists leverages deep industry and customer insights to identify urgent, unsolved problems and supports founders in developing breakthrough innovations. We work with 2-4 companies at a time, enabling us to provide our full attention and resources to each founding team. We also provide funding to our companies, as well as make select investments outside the studio.

The Opportunity

Target Start Date: September 2025

We are seeking an exceptional Associate to join our core team. This is a rare opportunity to work directly with our partners and portfolio companies while learning the venture studio model from the ground up. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional analytical capabilities with a bias toward action and experience working in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments. The role is a hybrid between investing and entrepreneurship.

Key ResponsibilitiesVenture Building

  • Lead market research and customer discovery efforts to validate new venture opportunities

  • Design and manage pilot programs to test business hypotheses

  • Create detailed financial models and business plans for new ventures

  • Assist in recruiting founding teams and key early hires

Investment Activities

  • Conduct due diligence on potential investments, including market analysis, competitive research, and financial modeling

  • Support deal execution and portfolio management

  • Monitor industry trends and identify emerging opportunities in climate and education

Portfolio Support

  • Work directly with portfolio company founders on strategic initiatives

  • Drive operational improvements across key business functions

  • Support fundraising efforts, including pitch deck creation and investor outreach

  • Assist with recruitment for key roles across portfolio companies

QualificationsRequired

  • 2-5 years of experience in management consulting, venture capital, venture studio, or startup operations

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • Strong financial modeling and data analysis skills

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication

  • Proven ability to work autonomously and drive projects to completion

  • Track record of building strong relationships with founders and executives

  • Passion for climate tech and/or education technology

  • Preferred: Domain expertise in climate tech or education technology
