RICS Software, part of the Fullsteam organization, is a POS and Inventory Control platform for footwear, apparel, and accessory retailers as well as single-store, multi-store, and franchises. RICS provides easy to implement, learn, and use Point Of Sale, Inventory Management, and Reporting tools, as well as full-service on-boarding and live support 7 days a week. Using the RICS solution empowers retailers to make smarter buying, inventory, and selling decisions. RICS also helps retailers save time, spend less, and sell more. RICS integrates with other systems to enable retailers to grow their businesses, such as e-Commerce, accounting, open-to-buy, and product catalog data (SKU's, images, UPC's, descriptions, etc.). Additionally, RICS offers a downloadable Mobile POS App for off-site use, and anywhere in-store.

The Associate Software Engineer contributes to the design, development, and delivery of high‑quality software solutions that enhance client acquisition, retention, and overall product value. This early‑career role is designed for engineers who are eager to build strong technical fundamentals while working in a collaborative, Agile development environment.

Working under the guidance of senior engineers, the Associate Software Engineer executes assigned development tasks aligned with Agile, DevOps, and secure coding practices, while continuously developing technical skills and product knowledge.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build a foundational understanding of RICS business processes, product architecture, source code, and key product features to support assigned development tasks.
  • Contribute to the design, development, testing, and release of software code under the guidance of senior engineers as part of an Agile team.
  • Participate in Agile and SCRUM ceremonies by communicating task status, learnings, risks, and blockers to support prioritization and on‑time delivery.
  • Support DevOps practices by assisting with automation, basic troubleshooting, and maintenance of development tools, applications, and environments.
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining monitoring or alerting solutions to support system reliability, security, and service‑level expectations.
  • Provide effort estimates for assigned development tasks to support accurate planning and delivery.
  • Perform root cause analysis for clearly defined production issues using logs, internal tooling, and source code, documenting findings and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records in software development management and tracking tools.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to build product understanding and contribute input on potential product improvements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to development best practices, tooling, and product architecture.
  • Actively seek feedback, demonstrate accountability, and maintain a growth mindset to accelerate professional and technical development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1–2 years of software development experience, including internships, co‑ops, or early‑career roles.
  • Experience with C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Azure Database
  • Foundational understanding of object‑oriented programming, APIs, and basic data structures.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to building web applications using React or similar frameworks.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and HTTP fundamentals.
  • Introductory experience with .NET / .NET Core, including awareness of async programming concepts.
  • Familiarity with package managers (e.g., NuGet, npm).
  • Introductory experience with databases (relational or NoSQL), such as CosmosDB.
  • Exposure to unit testing frameworks (e.g., xUnit, Jasmine) and basic mocking concepts.
  • Experience using tools to inspect or troubleshoot web requests and responses (e.g., browser dev tools, Postman, Fiddler).
