Position Overview
K18 is seeking a highly creative, trend-forward, and detail-oriented Associate Social Media Manager to join our team! This role is perfect for someone who understands the haircare space and can translate science backed concepts into scroll-stopping content. This role will primarily focus on content creation and editing, social optimization, social reporting, trend-watching, and supporting day-to-day publishing to social platforms.
The primary objective of our Associate Social Media Manager is to create, edit, and publish high-quality content, identify platform trends, and optimize daily performance to support the growth of K18’s social media presence and strengthen community connection.
To be successful in this role, you must be able to thrive in a highly fluid and ever-changing social media landscape. You must also have excellent communication and collaborative skills and have a creative approach to the social space.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Sr. Social Media Manager and Social Media Manager to seamlessly execute social media strategy
- Create, edit, and package short-form video and static content for social channels and emerging platforms.
- Write and refine on-brand social copy that translates science-backed concepts into clear, engaging, and educational content.
- Support day-to-day publishing by uploading, scheduling, formatting, and tagging posts across platforms, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Maintain and update the social content calendar, helping align content with brand priorities, campaign moments, and product launches.
- Monitor daily social, beauty, and cultural trends, identifying opportunities for timely, reactive, or rapid-turn content that makes sense for the brand.
- Pull and analyze social performance metrics, summarizing key insights and optimization recommendations to help guide content decisions.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Education teams to gather assets, ensure messaging is aligned, and ensure content accuracy.
- Assist with campaign and content shoot prep, including organizing assets, building shot lists, capturing BTS content when needed and traveling to shoots when needed.
- Ensure all content follows brand guidelines, including voice, visual identity, science, and best practices.
- Maintain and organize asset library, ensuring content files, footage, and visuals are cleanly labeled and easily accessible for the team.
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Journalism, Communications or related field
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and proactive
- Natural storyteller who understands the brand DNA, voice, and aesthetics
- Strong understanding of and interest in the hair space, passionate about the brand
- Experience in visual storytelling on social media
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude
- A collaborative team player with an open mind to finding new ways to drive results
- Knowledge in the KOL (influencer) landscape
- Strong awareness of social media best practices and platform knowledge, understanding of measurement metrics of success
- Familiarity with online analytical tools and social scheduling applications, such as: Dash Hudson, Tribe Dynamics
- Comfortable editing short-form content using CapCut or similar video/photo editing software.
- English, additional language(s) a huge plus
Salary Range: 75-85K USD
This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position. The actual base salary will depend on numerous factors such as: experience, knowledge and skills, and if the location of the job changes.
