The Associate Product Manager (APM) plays a critical role in shaping the products that power how DaVita operates. APMs partner with business owners, IT, Product Operations, and other Product functions to design, test, and deliver systems that make operational work simpler, smarter, and more connected across the Village.

This role blends analytical rigor, user empathy, and structured execution. APMs translate complex operational and behavioral insights into clear requirements, user stories, and testable product improvements. They ensure that every feature delivered advances business outcomes and improves the teammate experience.

The ideal candidate is naturally curious, detail-oriented, and energized by solving ambiguous problems through structure, collaboration, and learning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Discovery + Definition
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand business problems, user needs, and behavioral drivers.
  • Conduct structured user research and journey mapping to identify pain points and improvement opportunities.
  • Support assumption framing, development, and testing (User Value, Feasibility, Business Viability).
  • Translate discovery findings into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and early product requirements.
Product Development + Iteration
  • Manage product backlog and prioritize features with guidance from Product leadership.
  • Support sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives in partnership with Product Operations; ensure clarity and traceability from insights to features.
  • Participate in prototyping, usability testing, and design sprints to validate user flows and behavior change objectives.
  • Track thematic product metrics (user happiness, product engagement, product adoption, user retention, task success, and business ROI) and report insights for iteration.
Delivery + Enablement
  • Collaborate with IT partners to clarify feature requirements and ensure smooth technical delivery.
  • Support pilots and rollouts, capturing user feedback, adoption patterns, and friction signals.
  • Prepare materials for Gate reviews (Discovery → Development → Scale), ensuring assumption validation and readiness artifacts are complete.
  • Partner with business, change, and learning and development teams on enablement materials, training documentation, and communications.
Analytical Rigor + Insight
  • Conduct light quantitative and qualitative analysis to frame feature value, success signals, and adoption insights.
  • Use data tools (Pendo, Tableau, Excel, Foundry, etc.) to analyze performance and distill actionable learnings.
  • Link behavioral and operational data to drive prioritization and value logic (ROI, cost/time savings, adoption impact).
Communication + Collaboration
  • Build clear, concise materials (i.e., professional, audience-tailored, clear story logic) for Product readouts and stakeholder reviews.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional partners (business / operations, IT, UX, Data Science, change, field operators, etc.).
  • Contribute actively to team rituals (standups, retros, OKR reviews) with a growth mindset and solution orientation.

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Analytical Rigor & Insight: Distills insight from qualitative and quantitative data; frames implications and next steps.
  • System Thinking & Design: Understands how tools, roles, and processes interact; identifies behavioral friction and system dependencies.
  • Product Execution Discipline: Owns assigned product workstreams with precision - meeting deadlines, maintaining backlog hygiene, and managing progress transparently.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Influence: Collaborates effectively with field, Forge, and technical partners; maintains clarity, professionalism, and follow-through.
  • Communication & Storytelling: Builds crisp, logical narratives and slide materials that connect data to direction and help others act with clarity.
  • Lead the DaVita Way: Models humility, curiosity, and accountability. Embodies our Core Values - Service Excellence, Integrity, Team, Continuous Improvement, Accountability, Fulfillment, and Fun.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • 1–3 years of experience in product, consulting, strategy, operations, or design/research roles.
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and communication excellence.
  • Familiarity with product management practices, agile methodologies, and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Workboard, or similar).
  • Experience conducting user interviews, usability tests, or workflow analysis preferred.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; product management, business, engineering, design, or related field preferred.

WORKING STYLE & VALUES

  • Bias toward action and learning velocity: favors rapid, testable progress over perfection.
  • Comfortable in ambiguity, translating unclear problems into structured next steps.
  • Driven by curiosity, collaboration, and meaningful impact.
  • Thrives in an environment balancing operational excellence with innovation.
