The Associate Principal, Strategic Account Services plays a pivotal leadership role in managing high-value client relationships, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring exceptional service delivery across key accounts. This role acts as a trusted advisor to both clients and internal stakeholders, aligning cross-functional teams to deliver measurable value and achieve account growth objectives.
What you will be doing:
Client Relationship Management
Serving as the senior point of contact for strategic accounts representing prior authorizations and utilization management products and services.
Building and nurturing long-term client relationships by deeply understanding their business goals, challenges, and opportunities.
Acting as a strategic advisor, guiding clients through complex decision-making and solution adoption.
Strategic Planning & Execution
Developing and execute comprehensive account strategies in collaboration with clients and internal teams.
Driving initiatives that support client retention, satisfaction, and revenue growth.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Partnering with internal teams across operations, product, marketing, finance, and legal to ensure seamless service delivery and issue resolution.
Championing client needs and advocate for solutions that align with both client and company objectives.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
Monitoring account performance against KPIs and SLAs.
Delivering regular executive-level updates, insights, and recommendations based on data-driven analysis.
Revenue Growth & Opportunity Development
Identifying and pursuing opportunities for account expansion, upselling, and cross-selling.
Collaborating with business development and product teams to align solutions with client needs.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Proactively identifying opportunities to enhance client outcomes and internal processes.
Introducing innovative ideas that improve service quality, client engagement, and operational efficiency.
Mentorship & Team Development
Mentoring junior team members and contributing to a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
Client Knowledge & Documentation
Maintaining a deep understanding of each client’s use cases, workflows, and strategic goals.
Documenting and communicating how Availity’s capabilities align with client needs, and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base for each account.
To be qualified for this role, you have:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in client services, account management, or strategic partnerships within the healthcare industry.
1–3 years of experience in a provider or payer environment, ideally with exposure to prior authorization or utilization management workflows. This is required to be considered for the role.
Proven ability to manage complex, high-value client relationships and communicate effectively across technical and business domains.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a consultative approach to client engagement.
Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing without authority.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
What will set you apart:
Operational experience in both provider and payer environments.
Technical understanding of healthcare IT systems, including payer UM systems, EMRs, and integration standards such as EDI and FHIR.
Familiarity with prior authorization and utilization management workflows from both health plan and provider perspectives.
