About Augment Risk

Augment Risk is a capital-first reinsurance intermediary. We structure tailored reinsurance and capital solutions that drive growth, preserve margin and unlock value. Our model bridges traditional boundaries, geographic, product, and structural, allowing us to align with client strategy, not just place risk.

The Role

Augment is seeking a Reinsurance Contracts & Wording Specialist to own and drive reinsurance contract/slip wording from submission through execution.  This person will be a primary resource for drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing reinsurance wordings (treaty and/or facultative), ensuring that Augment’s innovative deal structures are translated into clear, accurate, and commercially aligned agreements. In this role, you will support the development of contract certainty, provide clarity across multi-jurisdictional wordings, and help guide clients through the claims process with confidence and care. You will blend technical drafting expertise with collaborative problem-solving to support efficient, consistent delivery across the deal lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, negotiate, and refine quota share, excess of loss, aggregate, stop loss and facultative (as applicable) reinsurance contracts, slips, I&L agreements, clauses, endorsements, and related documents with legal and commercial precision to ensure contract wording reflects the intent of the negotiations.
  • Embed wordings early in the placement lifecycle to remove friction, reduce rework, and accelerate market closure.
  • Lead or support global claims processes including notification, investigation, negotiation, and settlement.
  • Collaborate with brokers, legal teams, Technical Accounting, and analytics to align contract terms with operational realities.
  • Work with broker, wordings and legal colleagues to refine wordings, interpret policy language, resolve contract issues, and establish best practices.
  • Enhance Augment’s clause library and contribute to continuous improvement in contract structure and defensibility.

Experience

  • Exceptional drafting accuracy and analytical rigor.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of reinsurance structures and how contract language impacts claims, accounting, and operational processes.
  • Strong command of contract interpretation and clause mechanics; ability to spot inconsistencies across placement documents.
  • Excellent written communication skills with high competence in technical reading, writing and communicating in the US and UK.
  • Experience with common market forms and documentation practices.
  • Strong legal and regulatory awareness across relevant jurisdictions.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple concurrent documentation streams with precision.
  • Solid understanding of P&C insurance.
  • Collaborative and learning mindset.

Requirements

  • 7+ years’ experience in reinsurance contract drafting.
  • Experience in handling complex (re)insurance claims.
  • Experience in a broker, MGA, carrier, or reinsurer environment
  • Exposure to parametric contract wordings a plus.
