Energy Solutions is currently seeking a full-time Associate Director of Emerging Energy Technologies (ET) to join our Business Strategy Team.
Given the state’s aggressive climate goals and the shifting utility landscape, emerging energy technologies have never been more important in shaping the future of the energy world. This role will drive the deployment of new energy technologies and delivery mechanisms into the utility portfolio, setting the standard for the industry at a national scale along the way.
As a member of the Energy Solutions team, you will have a broad impact on energy efficiency markets and greenhouse gas reductions through our work with North American utilities and other national leaders in energy efficiency. Daily responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to:
- Define and execute the strategic vision and roadmap for the emerging technology portfolio, ensuring long-term scalability and alignment with organizational and client goals.
- Direct a team of project managers and engineers dedicated to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through ET programs.
- Oversee and develop a detailed project portfolio strategy. Allocate resources to achieve annual strategy.
- Maintain and develop client relationships, serving as a trusted partner for our current and new clients.
- Regular communication with department staff and management to direct priorities.
- Workload management, including recruiting, staffing and work assignments for the team.
- Performance management of department staff members, including staff supervision.
- Demonstrate understanding and capabilities of technical project and program management.
- Demonstrate leadership and management qualities essential to be successful in the role.
- Lead Relationship Management with key internal and external partners, building trust and exercising influence to ensure successful collaboration and resource allocation.
- Serve as a natural leader and active mentor, fostering a culture of accountability, innovative thinking, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Provide expert knowledge and guidance on advanced building systems, including HVAC, Lighting, Plug Loads & Appliances, Water Heating, and Whole Buildings optimization.
- Develop and deliver professional data visualization and presentation skills to translate complex technical information into clear, actionable strategies for non-technical stakeholders.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of work experience including at least 5 years in a supervisory and leadership capacity.
- Familiarity with the North American market, especially the Pacific Northwest region for energy efficiency, demand response, demand management, distributed generation, storage, and distribution management.
- Demonstrate outstanding problem solving, quantitative, and analytical skills.
- Ability to solve complex problems and provide solutions.
- Ability to balance competing priorities.
- Strong client management and project management experience.
- Proven track record of successful supervision or organizational leadership experience.
- Demonstrated ability to provide thought leadership to achieve energy and climate goals.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Detail oriented with ability to manage time and organize competing priorities.
Compensation to commensurate with experience with the pay band of $110,000 - $145,000/Annually with a target range of 110,000 - 130,500/Annually.
Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a generous retirement package. Energy Solutions provides an excellent benefits package including medical, dental and vision insurance, other pre-tax contribution plans and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).

Office Locations and a Remote Workforce
Energy Solutions operates as a predominantly remote workforce with offices in six different locations. Employees who reside within 40 miles of an office (except New York) will be assigned to that location, though in-office attendance requirements may vary by team.
