The Associate Director of DevOps Engineering is a strategic and technical leadership role responsible for guiding our DevOps initiatives. You will lead a team of talented DevOps engineers, focusing on standardization, building partnerships with software delivery teams to enhance the speed, security, and reliability of our software delivery pipeline. This hands-on leader will oversee CI/CD processes, build partnerships with engineering teams, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration across engineering and operations teams.

The Associate Director of DevOps will bring in industry best-practices, build and lead a customer focused team of DevOps engineers to mature DevOps platform, improve security posture, and reduce lead time for key deliverables. You will foster a DevOps engineering competency center where DevOps engineers are skilled at key cloud and automation technologies to improve productivity and developer experience to grow platform engineering at Humana.

This DevOps leader will execute the DevOps strategy and technical roadmap in alignment with the broader business objectives. You will champion automation across the development lifecycle to minimize manual toil and improve efficiency. You will build partnerships across the software development and operations engineering teams and be a conduit to reduce friction, simplify processes, and above all influence secured software delivery to market at speed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or an equivalent technical field
  • 8-10+ years in DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Engineering with 3+ years leadership experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience leading engineers implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI to automate application deployment
  • 2+ years’ experience managing all non-engineering functions like recruiting, financial budgets, career development, and more for a large growing engineering team
  • Extensive people leader skills with dedication to grow talent and skills across the organization.
  • Prior experience fostering a culture of collaboration between development and operations teams to promote transparency, shared responsibility, and streamlined processes, resulting in faster change lead times
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience
  • Expertise with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Extensive experience with CI/CD tools, containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and pipeline-as-code
  • Experience with monitoring and logging solutions like Dynatrace, Prometheus, ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), or Splunk for proactive issue detection and troubleshooting.

Additional Information

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria:
At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.
Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.
Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$142,300 - $195,700 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
