The Assistant Business Development Manager will play a key role in ensuring Scotts Miracle-Gro products are represented with best-in-class, optimized content across eCommerce retailer platforms. This role focuses on content accuracy, digital merchandising, and ongoing optimization to drive conversion, sales growth, and an improved customer experience.

You will serve as the primary liaison between retailers, the content production team, and internal cross-functional partners. From managing online catalogs to leading virtual store walks, you’ll identify content opportunities, track progress, and measure performance. This is a highly collaborative, detail-oriented position that combines creative problem-solving with data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities 

Content Management & Optimization

  • Liaison Role: Act as the primary point of contact between assigned retailers and the content production team, ensuring clarity on priorities, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Retailer Engagement: Attend weekly retailer calls with Business Development Teams to capture new content needs and emerging opportunities.

  • Optimization Opportunities: Identify retailer-specific enhancements such as alt images, SEO improvements, packshot badges, or refreshed product copy.

  • Content Tracking: Submit all content requests in the Content Tracker via Workfront for full project visibility.

  • Progress Communication: Share updates on content initiatives in retailer meetings, highlighting improvements beyond specific requests.

  • Digital Store Walks: Conduct monthly virtual store walks across major retailer.com platforms to evaluate product placement, content accuracy, competitive activity, and promotional compliance.

  • Performance Analysis: Collaborate with analytics partners to measure the impact of content updates on KPIs and shopper engagement.

Ratings & Reviews Management

  • Collaborate with Consumer Services and vendor partners (e.g., Bazaarvoice) to syndicate ratings and reviews across retailer.com.

  • Manage sampling initiatives (Amazon Vine, retailer review programs) to boost review count and quality.

  • Troubleshoot review flow issues and ensure SKU/UPC accuracy.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred majors: Marketing, business, or related field preferred

  • 4+ years of experience in eCommerce, digital merchandising, online retail content management

  • Required: Experience in eCommerce, Online strategy, Digital Sales or marketing, and digital analytics

  • Proficiency in retailer content management systems (e.g., Walmart Connect, Lowe’s Salsify, Amazon Vendor Central, THD Content Hub). Familiarity with Workfront, Bazaarvoice is a plus.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Analytical mindset with experience measuring digital shelf performance and optimization impact.

  • Skill set that includes presentation, communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration in fast fast-paced team environment

The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $87,600.00 - $103,100.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.In addition to the determined base salary, this role is also incentive eligible under our corporate bonus programs.For remote roles where the final candidate resides in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon or Washington, state required pay thresholds will be factored into base salary.
