Pay Rate - $25/hr
Position Purpose
This position provides hands-on experience supporting redevelopment projects and public-private initiatives that shape the City of Arvada’s economic vitality and built environment.
Essential Job Functions
Assist in reviewing redevelopment proposals and contracts, site plans, and zoning-related materials
Conduct research on land use regulations, planning frameworks, and urban design standards
Support the preparation of planning reports, staff memos, and presentation materials
Conduct market and feasibility research on real estate development projects
Assist with analysis of development agreements, incentive structures, and public financing tools
Support review and summarization of legal documents such as contracts, ordinances, and intergovernmental agreements
Research municipal code, land use law, and public-private partnership frameworks
Track redevelopment project milestones, timelines, and deliverables
Assist in coordination between developers, consultants, attorneys, and public agencies
Attend and document meetings with stakeholders and project partners
Must be comfortable participating in public meetings, community outreach, and stakeholder engagement sessions
Assist in preparing materials for public presentations and engagement events
Help document community feedback and summarize public input for staff review
Maintain project files, databases, and documentation systems
Support the executive director with the financial management of the organization
Prepare presentations, briefing memos, and internal reports
Assist with GIS mapping, data visualization, or policy analysis as needed
Support technology (Zoom) to facilitate monthly board meetings and community engagement meetings

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Ability to demonstrate considerable judgment, tact, discretion and confidentiality.
Proficient knowledge of office practices including word processing, database management, and spreadsheets
Ability to engage with the public and participate in community meetings
Must be currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree in:
Urban Planning, Real Estate, Business, Finance, Public Administration, Economics, Political Science, Pre-Law, Legal Studies, or Law School (JD program), Construction Project Management
Other Qualifications
Must pass a criminal background check and a driving record check, if required by the position.
Physical Demands
Minimal physical effort typically found in clerical work. Primarily sedentary, may occasionally lift and carry light objects. Walking and/or standing as needed and minimal.
Hazards
Minimal exposure to hazards are typically found in general office environment where there is rarely to no exposure to injury or accident.
Work Environment
Exposure to routine office noise and equipment.

The City of Arvada does not offer benefits to temporary and/or seasonal employees. Temporary, Variable Hour and Health Plan Eligible employees will earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum cap of 48 hours.
