About the Opportunity
We are seeking an exceptional hands-on Architect to lead our mobile engineering teams, driving the development of high-quality applications for both iOS and Android. As a technical leader, you will be responsible for the overarching solution architecture of our mobile apps, ensuring seamless delivery, and providing guidance and mentorship to the iOS and Android engineering teams along with being hands on in the implementation of solutions in the ios tech stack of Swift UI.
In this role, you will:
Architect & Deliver Hands-On Mobile Solutions (45%)
Architect and Implement advanced mobile applications for both iOS and Android platforms, ensuring robustness, scalability, and maintainability
Translate complex design comps into pixel-perfect mobile user interfaces with an eye for detail and design aesthetics.
Optimize mobile applications for maximum performance and scalability using Xcode, Instruments, and equivalent Android development tools.
Demonstrate a deep understanding of iOS frameworks and Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines.
Lead Mobile Engineering Practices & Technical Standards (35 %)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align mobile development with the company's strategic goals, ensuring a cohesive product architecture
Drive the integration of mobile apps with server-side APIs and enterprise backend systems, ensuring efficient and effective communication between platforms.
Mentor, Collaborate, & Align to Strategic Goals (20 %)
Lead the iOS and Android engineering teams, including conducting code reviews, setting technical standards, and evaluating new technologies and tools.
Serve as a technical expert in Swift, SwiftUI, and familiarity with equivalent Android development languages and frameworks.
Mentor and develop engineering talent, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
About You
To qualify for this role, you must have:
Required skills
Proven track record of leading mobile engineering teams and delivering high-quality mobile applications on both iOS and Android platforms.
Expert-level knowledge of Swift, SwiftUI, and familiarity with Android development languages and frameworks.
Extensive experience with Xcode, Instruments, and equivalent Android development tools for performance analysis and code optimization.
Strong understanding of mobile data layers, including networking APIs, deserialization, caching, and databases.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, backend engineers, and business partners.
Experience with releasing apps on both the App Store and Google Play Store.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
The ability to travel 3-4 times a year to College Board offices or on behalf of College Board business if not local
Preferred skills
Experience with GraphQL, Apollo SDK, and other modern data fetching and state management techniques.
Hands-on experience with backend for front-end server-side systems to optimize client-side experiences.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide teams towards achieving their highest potential.

About Our Process

A Thoughtful Approach to Compensation
The hiring range for this role is $156,000–$172,000.
Your exact salary will depend on your location, experience, and how your background compares to others in similar roles at the College Board.
