About the Role
We are seeking an Appian Integration Engineer to join our fast-growing IT project-based consulting business. We're looking for a well-rounded team member to contribute to digital transformation efforts across several Federal agencies. These initiatives aim to provide highly intuitive low-code/no-code development environments to enable rapid configuration, modification, and deployment of new case types, workflows, business rules, and user interfaces. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create Appian Web APIs for integration with external systems
- Develop Appian Plug-ins for ingesting data from various external data sources
- Build and integrate APIs to enhance the functionality and interoperability of Appian applications with other systems, including Web APIs, Connected Systems, and Integration Objects
- Utilize Appian Data Fabric to create multiple data products
- Create and manage data models within Appian’s Data Fabric
- Understand and implement complex security rules across multiple data sources.
- Create automated workflows using Appian BPM platform
- Work with other Appian developers to deliver a solution using a combination of record types, interfaces, process models, Custom Data Types, expression rules, reports, etc. Key application features include Data, project scheduling, resource allocation, document approval, reporting, planning, and cost estimation.
- Leverage Appian RPA and AI capabilities to automate processes, improve application intelligence, and generate synthetic data
- Execute unit tests and integration tests against your changes.
- Assist with the testing effort following all Appian upgrades.
- Check code into a DevOps pipeline to promote Appian objects/packages to a higher tier.
- Ensure project deliverables meet team/customer quality standards, as well as functional/non-functional requirements.
- Support the remediation of issues that arise in non-development environments and Production.
- Create Plugins and API end points
- Implement security best practices within the Appian platform, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards – must include knowledge of user role configuration and security rules
- Work closely with Business Analysts to design conceptual workflows and related actions to support the customer’s vision within the solution.
- Work with Business Analysts to create custom reports and dashboards tailored to users
- Demonstrate periodically to the team during Daily Stand-Ups features as you complete them.
- Participate in all Agile-based ceremonies, including assisting the team with story estimation.
- Assist other Appian developers with their tasks from a peer programming perspective, including reviewing code and implementation approach.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum four (4) years of experience as an Appian Developer.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working on external integrations with Appian
- Experience with Appian Data Fabric
- Experience with Appian Process automation platform
- Strong understanding of REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, HTTP status codes, and API versioning
- Experience with the various types of HTTP Methods (GET / POST / PUT / PATCH / DELETE)
- Familiarity with different integration authentication types (OAuth 2.0, Basic, API Keys, SAML/JWT)
- Knowledgeable in secure integration patterns (TLS/HTTPS, mutual TLS, cert management)
- Solid SQL skills (Oracle / SQL Server / MySQL / MariaDB)
- Understanding of Appian 23.x or newer
- Experience with CI/CD concepts of Appian deployments (Compare & Deploy, Git, automated package promotion)
- Appian Lead Developer certification preferred
- Federal Government experience preferred
- Experience with software development, including building JavaScript, C#, and/or Java/J2EE-based application is a plus
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and an ability to follow up in a timely manner.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Candidates will need to obtain Security Clearance of Public Trust once hired
