Come join the Trailforks team at Outside as an Android Engineer II. In this role, you will build software for some of the wildest adventures on earth and help people explore trails with cutting-edge data and tools. You will work closely with our small and mighty team of engineers and product and design peers.
Trailforks is not just any trail mapping website, it's a user contributed database that empowers the people who work so hard to preserve and maintain the trails we love. At Trailforks our North Star is to equip our community with the very best tools to manage and showcase local trail networks.
What you will do:
- Own development of features for the Trailforks Android app with high level guidance from the engineering manager and tech lead
- Create solutions following best practices using established patterns in the existing code base
- Contribute helpful and valuable code reviews
- Make steady progress on assigned tasks and seek additional areas to contribute
- Contribute proactively to app maintenance & bug resolution
- Contribute to the shared KMM library that is used across iOS & Android apps
This describes you:
- You have 2+ years experience in Android development in Kotlin
- You have an up-to-date knowledge of Android design principles, patterns, and familiarity with tools like Jetpack Compose, Coroutines
- You have built maintainable features including API design and testing techniques
- You are familiar with multithreaded programming and mobile memory management
- You have a proven track record of healthy collaboration with design and product peers
- You have a passion for the outdoors and familiarity with the Trailforks product and community
- Experience in other parts of our stack - Kotlin Multiplatform, Javascript, Cordova - is a plus
What We Offer:
Entirely remote jobs that could be performed in Colorado: Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $95,000 to $125,000. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission . Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, Flexible Time Away, sick leave, and more. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors
