Hex’s Data team is focused on using data to enable execution and decisions in our rapidly growing business.
As a Senior Analytics Engineer at Hex, you’ll lead the way on thinking about how our data team can most effectively improve the team’s ability to use data in everyday decisions, big and small. You’ll partner with our GTM and product organizations to help them access the data, insights, and operationalized workflows they need as we scale. We’re focused on unblocking new strategies and understanding for our leadership team while ensuring our world-class data stack continues to operate smoothly.

What you will do:- Improve and maintain the infrastructure in our stack, which includes Snowflake, Rudderstack, AWS, Fivetran, dbt + MetricFlow, Hightouch, Eppo, and of course, Hex!
- Work with stakeholders to define, iterate, and measure core business metrics
- Build and improve dbt models so that it’s easy for Hexans to gain insight and answer questions about our business
- Continuously test and adopt new tools and workflows in Hex and beyond, and share your feedback with our product teams
- Lead the team’s technical practices: coach analysts on software engineering principles, prototype new data tooling, and develop resources that enhance developer experience
- Ensure a high level of quality, performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness in our data stack as we scale
- Train teammates across the company on how to use Hex effectively as a data workspace
- Contribute to a culture of documentation and knowledge-sharing, whether internally or through public channels like blog posts, conference talks, or community forums
You’re passionate about enabling better decisions through thoughtful data systems. You understand that data is a team sport, and you’re excited to help define what great data work looks like at a modern company.
Experiences and skills you have include:
- 3+ years of experience as an Analytics Engineer, or equivalent years working with analytics engineering best practices regardless of title
- A track record of working to maximize business impact by navigating ambiguity and focusing on unblocking the functions you support
- Strong SQL and dbt skills, comfort with Python, and experience maintaining data warehouses and ELT pipelines
- A drive for quality, simplicity, and maintainability in your work
- Curiosity about new technologies and a willingness to experiment with tools and workflows to improve how teams work with data
These experiences are not required, but will help you stand out as an applicant:
- Experience exploring or implementing emerging tools or methods in the data ecosystem (e.g. AI-assisted tooling, novel dbt workflows)
- Experience implementing and managing a semantic layer
- A passion for community—whether that means contributing to internal documentation, mentoring teammates, or sharing how you work externally
- Familiarity with SaaS metrics and experience partnering with GTM or Product teams in a B2B context
This role is based in the U.S.

The salary band for this role is: $185,000 - $200,000.
The salary range shown may be a reflection of additional factors such as geographical location and skill ranges/levels we’re open to. Placement in the salary range will be decided upon completion of the interview process, taking into account factors like leaving room for growth, internal fairness & parity, your demonstrated skills, and the depth of your experience. Our Recruiting team will be able to provide more details during the interview process.
