The Analyst will support financial modeling, data management, project lifecycle evaluation, and market research for solar projects, contributing to investment decisions.
ROLE OVERVIEW
Pivot Energy is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Analyst to join our Financial Modeling & Analysis team. The Financial Modeling & Analysis (FM&A) team is responsible for all project financial modeling. Nested within the broader Finance team and within the Finance Operations team that includes Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), FM&A supports and collaborates with the other Finance teams as well as works closely with all Origination, Development, and Execution teams. The FM&A team currently manages the Project Economic Lifecycle (PEL) Gating process which ensures that Pivot is ensuring optimal resource investment.
This role is critical in supporting the financial evaluation, modeling, and lifecycle management of our solar and energy storage projects. The ideal candidate will be a quantitative problem solver with a strong foundation in finance, excellent Excel skills, and a passion for renewable energy. The FM&A Analyst will assist in financial modeling, market research, and project support to drive project investment decision-making for Pivot's commercial and community solar and energy storage initiatives. In addition to supporting financial modeling and market analysis, this role will play a key part in supporting the FM&A team with managing competing deadlines across the team’s core scopes of project financial modeling and project investment decision-making.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Project Modeling Support: Assist in developing and maintaining financial models to evaluate solar project viability, profitability, and investment potential; this role can grow into becoming a financial modeling lead for active markets. The market modeling lead collaborates closely with the market POD made up of stakeholders throughout the company;
- Data Collection & Management: Collaborate with FM&A and FP&A team members as well as other cross-departmental teams to collect and validate data inputs for financial models, ensuring accuracy and consistency; provide variance analysis and analytical support to FM&A and FP&A team members;
- Financial Analysis: Evaluate financial impacts of project variables, helping to optimize decision-making and project modeling across the broader finance team; provide analytical support to FM&A team members for project decision-making and financial analysis;
- Project Economic Lifecycle Support:
- Documentation: Maintain clear and organized records of research, modeling inputs, stage gate materials, and assumptions for future reference;
- Market Research: Conduct research on solar industry trends, policy changes, and market opportunities, synthesizing findings to inform project strategies;
o Assist in the development, documentation, and maintenance of Pivot Energy's Project Economic Lifecycle (PEL) framework. This includes all stage gate requirements from project ideation through construction, ensuring a consistent and rigorous approach to project evaluation and alignment with external financing requirements.
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the implementation of the PEL framework, fostering informed decision-making.
o Support the standardization of stage gate materials, communication best practices, and decision capture.
o Contribute to the continuous improvement of the PEL framework, incorporating feedback and best practices.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic financial modeling capabilities

- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- A natural inclination toward process improvement and efficiency
- Ability to handle administrative tasks efficiently and effectively

PREFERRED COMPETENCIES
- Basic knowledge of solar energy or renewable energy markets
- Exposure to financial analysis, project finance, or market research through coursework, internships, or previous roles
