As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Chief Technology Office's Intelligent Solutions team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation and optimization of our Data Transformation-aided Alteryx product. Our firm-wide Lines of Business (LoB) teams focus on developing scalable Intelligent Solutions that enable data-driven business decision-making and drive cost savings through automation.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams-including Cloud Engineering, Platform and Software Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), business stakeholders, and others-to foster innovation and deliver solutions that maximize Return on Investment (ROI). You will be responsible for ensuring that our Alteryx platform is designed for scalability, security, and high availability, empowering end users to efficiently manage large volumes of requests without compromising performance. Currently, Alteryx supports more than 42,000 data app developers across the firm.
Job Responsibilities
  • Execute creative software solutions, including design, development, and technical troubleshooting, with the ability to think beyond conventional approaches to solve complex technical problems.
  • Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others to ensure adherence to best practices and standards.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues, enhancing the operational stability of software applications and systems.
  • Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and suitability for integration within existing systems and information architecture.
  • Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote awareness and adoption of new and emerging technologies.
  • Serve as an Alteryx Subject Matter Expert (SME), demonstrating deep knowledge of both the functional and technical aspects of the Alteryx platform and tools.
  • Provide guidance to partnering technology teams on feature releases, and validate the quality of vendor products prior to general release.
  • Assist the Alteryx support team and solution owners with solution reviews, recommending best practices for implementation and optimization.
  • Build reusable components and promote their adoption across the Alteryx ecosystem to drive automation and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with vendor Product Owners (POs) to understand their roadmap and feature releases for both on-premises and SaaS products.
  • Evaluate new data transformation tools and technologies as they emerge in the market.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with 5+ years of applied experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python and/or Java, for custom API, macro, and microservices development.
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
  • Subject Matter Expertise in Alteryx and other data transformation tools.
  • Experience as an individual contributor in Alteryx engineering and development.
  • Solid understanding of the Alteryx ecosystem, user behavior, and solution build best practices.
  • Ability to understand and align with business expectations, and write clear requirements for technology teams.
  • Experience as a \"Responsible Owner\" for Alteryx systems in enterprise environments.
  • Ability to understand business objectives and align Intelligent Solutions problem definition accordingly.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical information and ideas at all levels, building trust with stakeholders.
  • Practical experience with cloud-native technologies.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Experience in designing and implementing pipelines using AWS Cloud technologies.
  • Understanding of enterprise software and platform release processes.
  • Proven track record in building and releasing technology solutions.
