Where we Work
Udemy is a global company headquartered in San Francisco, with additional U.S. offices in Denver and Austin, and international hubs in Australia, India, Ireland, Mexico, and Türkiye. This is an in-office position, requiring three days a week in the Denver, CO office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and flexibility on Mondays and Fridays.
About your skills
Prompt Engineering for LLMs: Skilled at crafting, testing, and optimizing prompts for large language models (e.g., GPT, Claude, Gemini) to improve accuracy, relevance, and consistency of outputs. Able to design reusable prompt templates, chain prompts for complex tasks, and fine-tune system instructions to align with business context and compliance requirements.
Agentic AI Development: You design, build, and deploy Agentic AI systems that solve real business problems, balancing performance, maintainability, and scalability.
Solution Ownership: You take a project from idea to delivery, including architecture, coding, integration, and testing.
Collaboration & Adaptability: You work effectively with product, engineering, and non-technical stakeholders to align AI solutions with business goals.
About this role
As an AI Systems Engineer at Udemy, you will build scalable, reliable AI systems from prototypes to production. You’ll play a critical role in delivering production-ready AI solutions, improving Udemy’s internal AI capabilities, and enabling the team to execute more engagements in parallel. This role offers the chance to work on a diverse range of AI use cases — from rapid prototyping to enterprise-grade deployments.
What you’ll be doing
Design, build, and deploy agentic AI, APIs, and services to solve internal business challenges using tools such as Workato and OpenAI.
Scope technical work and set realistic timelines.
Contribute to architectural design for AI systems to ensure scalability and maintainability.
Perform rigorous testing, validation, and documentation of AI solutions.
Integrate AI capabilities into existing platforms and workflows.
Stay current with advancements in AI and assess their potential applications.
Participate in peer reviews, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing within the AI team.
What you’ll have
Hands-on experience in AI engineering, preferably in a production environment.
Proficiency in prompt engineering for LLM interaction.
Experience building APIs and integrating AI models into applications.
Strong understanding of data processing, feature engineering, and model evaluation.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a small, agile team.
A continuous learning mindset with curiosity for emerging AI technologies.
