Canyon Peak Power, situated in Bennett, Colorado, is a 162 MW simple-cycle gas facility delivering reliable, on-demand energy. Opportunity Summary
The Administrative Assistant at Canyon Peak Power supports the efficient operation of a peaking, simple-cycle power plant by providing administrative, accounting, and coordination support to plant operations and the Plant Manager. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate plant records, documentation, and data systems; tracking fuel deliveries, usage, and related invoices; coordinating with fuel suppliers, service vendors, and corporate support teams; and supporting procurement and accounts payable activities. The role also provides administrative support for HR, payroll backup, safety, and regulatory compliance functions through effective documentation control, reporting, and communication, contributing to safe, compliant, and reliable plant operations in support of regional grid reliability.
Your scope of responsibility as the Administrative Assistant includes the following primary functions:
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the plant and Plant Manager, including document preparation, routing for review and approval, accurate recordkeeping, vendor and HR coordination, regulatory support, and efficient daily operations at a peaking, simple-cycle facility.
- Maintain plant data systems and records related to fuel deliveries, usage, invoices, and receipts, ensuring accuracy, reconciliation, and accessibility.
- Administer electronic and hard copy filing systems for vendor accounts, contracts, insurance certificates, purchase orders, accounts payable files, operational records, and project documentation.
- Coordinate accounts payable and procurement activities by processing invoices, validating receipts, reconciling transactions in accounting and CMMS systems (e.g., Maximo, MainSaver), assisting with accruals and tax reconciliations, supporting credit card and expense report processing, and coordinating timely payment with Corporate Accounts Payable.
- Support purchasing and commitment tracking through invoice matching, order expediting, discrepancy resolution, and assistance with purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and Budget Variance Report (BVR) reviews.
- Serve as the primary administrative liaison for fuel suppliers, service vendors, Human Resources, and Environmental, Safety, and Regulatory groups, ensuring clear communication and alignment with company policies and plant requirements.
- Support HR, payroll, training, and safety administration by maintaining onboarding and qualification records, assisting with time entry verification and reporting, completing required system training, updating training databases, and maintaining regulatory postings and bulletin boards.
- Assist Environmental and Safety personnel with documentation, reporting, recordkeeping, audits, and incident tracking to support compliance obligations.
- Coordinate administrative logistics including outage support, scheduling meetings and calendars, arranging facilities, answering and routing calls, processing mail and shipments, inventory tracking, and documentation of meetings, audits, and events.
- Maintain office operations by managing document control, ordering supplies, and ensuring proper handling of incoming and outgoing correspondence and packages.
- Demonstrate professionalism in all activities, support employee engagement and community initiatives, and provide flexibility for occasional overtime, limited travel, and additional administrative or operational support as directed by the Plant Manager.

Working Relationships
The Administrative Assistant reports directly to the Plant Manager. This position will also coordinate with all plant personnel relative to the accounting, human resources, and administrative processes.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. However, as the facility is a power plant, there may be occasions that require standing for extended periods of time, climbing stairs and ladders, and wearing protective equipment (such as hard hats, safety glasses, and hearing protection). On-site conditions may also necessitate work outdoors in varying weather, including both hot and cold temperatures. Please note that smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility.
Fitness for Duty
All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening.
Work Schedule
The Administrative Assistant works a standard Monday to Friday day shift schedule, ensuring consistent plant operation and support during regular business hours. This position will also occasionally necessitate extended working hours and flexible shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays, in response to schedules, workload demands, and plant conditions. Periodic callouts or “On call” status may also be required.
Some travel may be involved to participate in Manager, Owner, or other offsite meetings.
Compensation
This position offers a base pay rate ranging from $25 to $33 per hour, along with an annual performance bonus.
Core Qualifications and Skills
We are seeking a detail-oriented Administrative Assistant with relevant administrative experience and a strong understanding of office operations, including support for fitness for duty programs, workers’ compensation, human resources, general accounting, and payroll functions.
- An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, or a related field is preferred; relevant industry or military experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Experience providing administrative support in a fast-paced, operations-focused environment, preferably within industrial, energy, or power generation facilities.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating vendor communications, tracking fuel deliveries, and processing, validating, and reconciling invoices in support of accounts payable and purchasing activities.
- Working knowledge of procurement processes, including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, order tracking, expediting materials or services, and resolving vendor discrepancies.
- Proficiency with administrative and operational systems used for recordkeeping and reporting, such as CMMS and ERP platforms (e.g., Maximo or similar systems).
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate electronic and hard-copy records related to fuel usage, vendor accounts, contracts, permits, and operational documentation.
- Ability to prepare, format, and distribute professional correspondence, reports, and regulatory or audit-related documentation with accuracy and clarity.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple priorities, support plant leadership and administrators, and maintain document control in a regulated environment.
- Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills to effectively serve as an administrative point of contact for fuel suppliers, service vendors, transportation providers, and internal stakeholders.
- Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license and ensure it remains in good standing at all times.
