Job Summary

We Are Patterson!  Patterson Companies, Inc. is focused on providing the best products, technologies, services and business solutions to the animal and oral health markets.  The Administrative Assistant II supports the business unit by providing administrative services to assigned manager(s) and/or multiple departments.  They might be called upon to provide receptionist duties.

Essential Functions

To perform this job successfully, an employee must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation. To request a reasonable accommodation, notify Human Resources or the manager who oversees the position.

  • Receives and, handles communication within department(s) promptly and courteously

  • Maintains strong organizational skills to facilitate the efficient retrieval of material and can provide quality assurance for work of others

  • Data Entry duties

  • Handles travel arrangements

  • Performs receptionist duties

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience and at least two (2) years of relevant job experience

  • Solid verbal and written communications skills, personal skills and ability to understand, follow the directions and manage multiple deadlines and projects

  • Strong working knowledge in preparing reports, presentation materials, scheduling meetings

  • Proficient and accurate keyboarding skills 

  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily

  • Phone Communication: Ability to answer, screen, and route incoming calls professionally, take detailed messages, and handle customer inquiries, often acting as the first point of contact. 

  • Mail & Correspondence: Proficient in opening, sorting, scanning, and distributing mail, as well as managing courier shipments and sending correspondence. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates degree in office administration preferred

Working Conditions

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit or stand while operating office equipment, such as a computer or telephone for 6-8 hours per day

  • Ability to work in an office environment either onsite or remotely

  • Operating a computer or other office device up to 8 hours per day

  • Position involves frequent communication with customers, inside staff, etc. and requires ability to understand and effectively exchange accurate information

Environmental Factors

This position is in an office environment in which team members occupy desks in assigned areas or at meeting/collaboration spaces within the building. The building’s primary work areas consist of desks, chairs, computers and other office equipment and devices for professional services.

Travel and On-Call

This position may require limited travel within local areas of support.

The potential compensation range for this role is below. The final offer amount could exceed this range, based on various factors such as candidate location (geographical labor market), experience, and skills.

$20.91 - $27.16EEO Statement
