General Purpose:
The Purgatory Snowcat Adventures Operations Coordinator is responsible for supporting the daily administrative and guest service functions of the snowcat operation. This position manages bookings, scenic tour coordination, guest communication, check in, safety briefing support, point of sale functions, office organization, and communication with the backcountry team to help ensure smooth and professional daily operations.
This is a seasonal position from December 2026 to April 2027. Dates are subject to change based on the availability of the applicant and needs of the business. Hiring for our seasonal positions occurs on a rolling basis. This position will remain open until filled.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Manage daily office operations for Purgatory Snowcat Adventures.
• Coordinate daily scenic tour and cat skiing reservations, schedules, and guest check in.
• Assist guests with booking questions, availability, payments, waivers, and general trip information.
• Maintain a strong working knowledge of all Purgatory Snowcat Adventures tours, products, pricing, policies, and operational procedures.
• Operate point of sale and reservation systems accurately and efficiently.
• Answer incoming phone calls and emails and provide professional, timely, and accurate information to guests.
• Assist with guest arrival and morning preparation, including check in, waivers, rental equipment coordination, lunches, and safety meeting organization.
• Help ensure guests receive necessary information regarding their trip, equipment, meeting locations, timing, and expectations.
• Assist guides with the organization and distribution of avalanche safety equipment and rental equipment prior to departure.
• Maintain accurate guest lists, reservations, payment information, and daily operational records.
• Communicate clearly with the General Manager, Lead Guide, guides, snowcat operators, and other resort departments regarding daily schedules, guest needs, operational changes, and special requests.
• Maintain radio communication with the backcountry team throughout the operational day and remain available to relay information or provide assistance when needed.
• Monitor daily schedules and communicate any delays, changes, cancellations, or operational updates to guests and staff.
• Assist with lodging package inquiries and other Snowcat Adventures products as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional office, guest staging area, and equipment area.
• Help organize and maintain skis, snowboards, avalanche equipment, radios, paperwork, office supplies, and other operational materials.
• Assist with opening and closing duties for the office.
• Provide a high level of guest service and help create a welcoming, professional experience from the first inquiry through the completion of the trip.
• Assist with basic administrative reporting, scheduling, inventory tracking, and documentation as directed by management.
• Support the General Manager with other administrative and operational duties as needed.
QualificationsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast paced environment.
• Comfortable learning and operating point of sale, reservation, email, and computer systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests, guides, management, and other resort departments.
• Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with schedule changes, weather delays, guest concerns, or other operational challenges.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of daily office responsibilities.
• Strong problem solving skills and good judgment.
• Ability to maintain accurate reservation, payment, and guest information.
• Comfortable using handheld radios and maintaining communication with field staff.
• Basic understanding of ski and snowboard equipment is preferred.
• Familiarity with ski resort, outdoor recreation, or mountain operations is preferred.
• Knowledge of Purgatory Snowcat Adventures products and the local area is preferred or must be learned quickly.
• Ability to provide a high level of service to guests in a professional and friendly manner.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small operational team.
Education and Experience:
• Previous customer service, hospitality, reservations, retail, office administration, or point of sale experience is preferred.
• Previous experience in a ski resort, outdoor recreation, tourism, hospitality, or similar environment is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Experience using reservation software, point of sale systems, email, and standard computer applications is preferred.
• Familiarity with skiing, snowboarding, or mountain recreation is preferred but not required.
Working Environment/Physical Activities:
The majority of the work day is spent indoors in the Purgatory Snowcat Adventures office and guest staging areas. This position includes periods of sitting and computer work as well as extended periods of standing, assisting guests, organizing equipment, and moving throughout the office and staging areas.
Employees may occasionally work outside in winter weather while assisting with guest arrivals, equipment, or daily operations. The position requires the ability to lift and move equipment, skis, snowboards, boxes, and supplies weighing approximately 30 to 50 pounds.
Operational days may begin early in the morning and can be busy during guest check in and departure times. The employee must remain attentive, organized, and available throughout the day while maintaining radio communication with the backcountry team and responding to guest or operational needs as they arise.
