Applicants for this role have the flexibility to work remotely from home anywhere within the continental United States. Due to the needs of the business, ideal schedule is CT time zone.

Welcome! To be considered for this role, candidates must have an ASA or FSA designation, MAAA (Member of American Academy of Actuaries), a bachelor’s degree, and at least 5 years of actuarial experience.

Position Purpose:

  • Conduct analysis, pricing and risk assessment to estimate financial outcomes for Individual commercial (ACA) products.
  • Manage health plan specific actuarial needs and produce actuarial reports to aid in developing corporate strategy.
  • Collaborate with actuaries and non-actuaries to assist with achieving well-rounded healthcare products

In this Actuary role, you will:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for all actuarial related activities for an assigned health plan
  • Manage at least 1 filing
  • Apply knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to calculate financial outcomes
  • Developing probability tables based on analysis of statistical data and other pertinent information
  • Research and analyze the impact from legislative changes
  • Analyze and evaluate required premium rates
  • Analyze various data reports, identify trends and gaps and recommend action
  • Determine the equitable basis for distributing money for insurance benefits
  • Create and update actuarial reports
  • Mentor junior level actuarial staff

 

Highly preferred:

  • Comfort explaining complex topics to non-actuaries at senior levels.
  • Experience pricing healthcare products.
  • Preferred 5+ years of health actuarial experience
  • In-depth experience working with healthcare pricing
  • Familiarity with ACA individual marketplace

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or in related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of actuarial experience.

 

License/Certification:

  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) (or equivalent international certification)
  • Member of American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), (or equivalent international membership)

Pay Range: $105,600.00 - $195,400.00 per year

Centene offers a comprehensive benefits package including: competitive pay, health insurance, 401K and stock purchase plans, tuition reimbursement, paid time off plus holidays, and a flexible approach to work with remote, hybrid, field or office work schedules.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law, including full-time or part-time status.  Total compensation may also include additional forms of incentives. Benefits may be subject to program eligibility.
