Job Description:

Penn Mutual's Actuarial Analysts will gain valuable experience in at least three different areas of practice. Pursues professional development in the actuarial profession through rigorous self-study and successful completion of actuarial exams, with ultimate advancement toward ultimate goal of FSA.

Responsibilities

  • Use basic actuarial techniques to perform data validation and analysis
  • Assist in analyzing actuarial research and audits
  • Perform basic to moderately complex actuarial tasks, which are mathematical and/or higher level clerical nature
  • Compile and categorizes routine data for experience analyses and prepares related reports
  • Assist in preparing schedules of statistics, financial statements, premiums, reserves and benefits, documenting and verifying the factors used in related computations
  • Assist in the development of presentations to management and external parties such as regulators and rating agencies
  • Active team member accountable for working towards shared goals and objectives
  • Provide support and data analysis needed for departments such as Accounting, Claims, and Product Management
  • Comply with all company and site policies and procedures
  • Responsible for adherence to the company’s framework of internal controls
  • Work collaboratively and may participate on or lead project teams
  • Identify, recommend and implement ongoing process improvements
  • Perform various other related duties, assignments and special projects as assigned
  • Product Management Focus: • Assist with the design and pricing of new products and pricing, reserving, or research reviews for assigned products • Address policyholder service requests, including in-force illustrations • Complies with all company and site policies and procedures

  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Must be detail-oriented and be able to handle multiple tasks/projects as well as exercise initiative and follow-through to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to establish and sustain positive relationships
  • Ability to make a positive contribution as demonstrated by learning new skills and making suggestions for process/procedure improvement
  • Ability to work with others in a collaborative team environment

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree major/concentration in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or related discipline Required

Experience

  • 0-3 Years of experience Required and
  • One exam toward the eventual attainment of ASA Required and
  • Committed to pursuing the FSA designation Required and
  • Life or Annuity pricing or valuation or modeling experience Preferred
