About Beam Benefits

Beam was founded in 2012 by three engineers who saw the opportunity to modernize the dental benefits industry using technology. The first product was the Beam Brush, which was one of the earliest examples of the Internet of Things in healthcare.

Today, Beam Benefits is available in 40+ states and has expanded beyond dental. Beam is now simplifying and modernizing a robust suite of ancillary employee benefits through an intuitive digital platform, self-service tools, AI-powered pricing, and support from Beam’s helpful representatives. This winning combination allows us to deliver a simple, smart, and wellness-focused experience for brokers, employers, and members.

What We’re Looking For:

Beam’s Accounting Team empowers the company by developing and implementing scalable accounting processes that facilitate timely and accurate financial reporting. As an Accounting Manager, you will lead our day-to-day operational accounting functions, including accounts payable and expense, cash, payroll, tax, fixed assets, and capitalized software. You will play a key role in keeping the close on track, strengthening internal controls, and driving automation and efficiency in our processes. We are looking for someone who is not only technically proficient but also creative and energetic in problem-solving, willing to challenge the status quo, and eager to explore new ways to improve efficiency through technology and automation.

What You Will Bring:

You are a self-motivated leader with a passion for continuous improvement and the ability to take ownership of projects from inception to execution. You thrive in a team-oriented environment and excel at critical thinking and strategic problem-solving. You are eager to leverage technology and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy in transactional and operational accounting processes.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform and review accounting tasks across accounts payable and expense, cash, payroll, tax, fixed assets, and capitalized software, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and internal controls
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes for assigned operational areas, including preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Monitor accounts payable and treasury functions to support cash flow management and vendor relationships
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements, implementing solutions to enhance efficiency
  • Work cross-functionally with teams across the company to ensure financial processes align with business objectives
  • Coordinate and manage external audits for assigned areas
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures to support the company’s growth and scalability
  • Partner with HR to support payroll processing and reconciliations, with knowledge of payroll tax implications being a valuable asset
  • Support tax compliance activities, fixed asset accounting, and the capitalization and amortization of internal-use software

What Skills Will Help You Be Successful:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; exposure to insurance accounting and reporting is a plus
  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting operations or public accounting, with prior experience in a managerial role preferred
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting principles
  • Experience with process automation and ERP systems; proficiency in NetSuite is a plus
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with data visualization tools
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to challenge existing processes and drive continuous improvement
  • Integrity, empathy, and a commitment to collaboration
