Gather AI is seeking a highly accomplished and strategically minded Accounting Manager to take ownership of our core financial operations. This is a pivotal and highly visible role that requires the strategic foresight to build a world-class AI native financial infrastructure and the hands-on technical expertise to manage the complexity of a rapidly scaling technology business. The successful candidate will ensure the integrity and cadence of our financial reporting while seamlessly preparing the company for the stringent demands of the financial  audits

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations Reporting, & Compliance

  • Financial Reporting Oversight: Own and oversee all aspects of the General Ledger (GL) accounting and the comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant reporting in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Technical Accounting Authority: Lead the technical accounting research function. Serve as the primary in-house expert and resource on complex and non-routine accounting matters (e.g., business combinations, equity, revenue recognition under ASC 606). Draft clear, well-supported accounting memos to document conclusions and establish formal accounting policies and procedures.
  • Investor Relations and Audit Management: Serve as the main point of contact for investors and external auditors . Coordinate all aspects of the annual audit and quarterly reviews, managing documentation requests, and proactively resolving technical and operational issues to ensure successful, timely completion.
  • Stakeholder Partnership: Partner effectively with critical internal departments (Finance Planning & Analysis, Engineering, Legal, IT) and external partners (auditors, consultants) to drive results, streamline processes, and proactively address emerging accounting and business issues.

Operations, Internal Controls & Scalability

  • Operational Directorship: Direct and manage all general ledger-related activities, including, but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions, ensuring optimal efficiency and control.
  • Process Optimization: Drive continuous improvement and digital transformation initiatives within the accounting function. Identify and leverage system efficiencies (e.g., ERP optimization, automation) to support scalability and meet the growing demands of a dynamic, high-growth technology company.

Required Qualifications

  • Education & Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. CPA certification is mandatory.
  • Experience Base: Minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership/management role. An ideal background includes a blend of experience from a Big Four public accounting firm (Audit or Advisory) and a high-growth industry role.
  • Technical Mastery: Demonstrated expertise in US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), SEC reporting requirements, and working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Operational Proficiency: Proven ability to lead and manage all phases of the monthly and quarterly close cycles with precision and efficiency. Demonstrable experience with deep GL accounting processes.
  • Controls Expertise: Significant, hands-on experience designing, documenting, and operating SOX business process controls in a public company environment or in preparation for one. Proven track record of managing control implementations and testing.
  • Audit Readiness: Proven track record managing complex SEC/PCAOB-level audits and serving as the primary liaison for external auditors.
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership capabilities with a proactive, "player/coach" mentality. Must possess highly collaborative, effective, and proactive communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex accounting issues and influence partners across all levels of the organization.
  • High-Growth Environment: Experience thriving and delivering results in a dynamic, rapidly evolving, high-growth environment, such as a recently public or late-stage private technology company.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry Leadership: Previous experience at a high-growth technology or SaaS company.
  • System Knowledge: Experience with ERP implementation or significant system migration (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle).
  • Revenue Recognition: Deep knowledge and practical application experience of complex revenue recognition standards (ASC 606).
  • Industry Focus: Direct experience within the AI technology/software or SaaS industry segments.
