The Accounting Manager oversees financial operations, prepares statements, manages budgeting, ensures compliance, and communicates results to management while leading the accounting department.

The primary role of the Accounting Manager is to be able to apply principles of accounting and finance to assist management in business operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Knowledge of the general accounting and corporate financial reporting industry.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, profit and loss statements, trend analysis, and other financial reports; review and certify completed statements for submission to parent company.
- Manage financial operations activities related to escrow and operating accounts; cash deposits, application/ posting, banking, and reconciliation, meeting stringent timeliness requirements.
- Summarize monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results for presentation to executive team.
- Help design and coordinate the annual budgeting process.
- Help manage forward-looking processes including forecasts, strategic/operating plans, monthly outlooks, and review results against plans monthly. Implement strategies and processes to support the financial operation of the agency.
- Generate analytics for quarter end results, related highlights, board of director's reports, and executive management reports.
- Manage work of the department ensuring appropriate staffing and organizational structures are in place.
- Assuring the financial compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to company policy.
- Demonstrate problem-solving and decision-making skills; and appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made.
- Responsible for performance management, including annual reviews, goal setting and providing on-going feedback.
- Effectively communicate and work with employees, internal divisions and external customers.
- Daily and monthly reconciliation of bank statements; outgoing wires; check transactions.
- Assist with internal and external audits; and state compliance reporting.
- Any ad-hoc tasks as assigned.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE
- Bachelor's degree in a business or finance related field.
- Insurance statutory accounting and reporting experience preferred
- Exceptional communication skills -- both written and verbal
- Comfortable presenting ideas and solutions to leadership and key business partners
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills and time management skills
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships
- Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Great Plains is preferred
- Public Accounting with title insurance
