About OneText:

Sitting at the intersection of payments, AI, and marketing, OneText makes shopping as effortless as paying with your hotel room number. Shoppers literally reply and buy with one text. Fast-growing ecommerce brands use our text to buy payments and sales concierge to drive up to 30% more revenue. We replace conventional SMS marketing with two-way conversations that delight shoppers and inspire them to buy more.

We’re backed by rockstars including Y Combinator, Coatue, Citi Ventures, Khosla Ventures, the founders of Warby Parker, Allbirds and Harry’s and Matt Bellamy, the lead singer of Muse.

We're building a world-class team and we’re looking for part 🪄magician, part 📣 cheerleader, part 🏴‍☠️ pirate, part 🚀 astronaut to join as our founding growth marketer. If that’s you, reach out!

The Role:

As OneText’s first accounting/finance hire you’ll help OneText scale from hundreds of customers to thousands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 📊 Take ownership of our entire accounting function (you’ll be our first finance/accounting hire and you’ll lay the foundation for how we do this right)

  • 📁 Manage and reconcile passthrough costs and revenue, and ensure the complexities are reflected accurately and cleanly in our books

  • 📆 Close the books monthly, quarterly, and annually - fast, accurately, and with zero surprises

  • 📚 Own GAAP-compliant financials, taxes, and audit readiness (and work with external partners to get them done well)

  • 🧰 Help us choose, implement, and maintain the right accounting tools and systems (e.g. ERP, AP automation, expense tools, etc.)

  • 🧾 Work with the CEO and Chief of Staff to ensure financial statements are clear, reliable, and useful for tracking cashflow and forecasting both revenue and costs

  • 💡 Bring insight, not just reporting: Help us understand margins, cash flow, and cost centers (and how to improve them)

  • 📐 Partner with outside vendors (current bookkeeping firm, tax firms, etc.) where needed to scale cleanly

Required Skills / Experience:

  • High level of accounting competency — this isn’t a job for someone still learning the basics. We need technical strength and judgment from day one

  • Previous experience working in an early-stage startup

  • Strong understanding of GAAP, tax compliance, and financial reporting

  • Experience managing or working with passthrough costs/revenue or complex revenue structures

  • Comfort being a team of one and designing systems that scale beyond you

  • Strong project management instincts - you know how to break big problems into clean, fast executions

  • Excellent communication - you can make accounting clear to founders, investors, and non-finance teammates

  • No ego about rolling up your sleeves - whether it’s chasing down receipts or rebuilding a chart of accounts

  • Experience setting up Quickbooks, Brex, and other startup-friendly tools

Why Join Us?

  • Be the first accounting hire at a rocketship startup: You’ll shape how our company tracks, understands, and optimizes its finances — from zero to scale

  • Solve hard and interesting problems: Our passthrough business model adds complexity most startups don’t touch until years later. You’ll build the systems that make it all work

  • Work with founders who care deeply about doing it right: We’re not looking for shortcuts — we’re looking for someone who can build a machine that runs clean, fast, and forever

  • Real responsibility, real impact: This isn’t a back-office role. You’ll be a key voice in financial planning, investor updates, and how we run the business

  • Join a company that’s growing fast: Revenue is up, the team is scaling, and we’re preparing for our next big chapter — including a Series A
