JOB SUMMARY
As an Accounting Intern with Schellman, you'll support the accounting team with a variety of accounts receivable and operational accounting tasks. This is a task-oriented role focused on keeping processes accurate, organized, and moving efficiently. Please note this role does not involve general ledger accounting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Accounts Receivable & Cash Application
Support accounts receivable functions including cash application and related tasks
Assist with portal uploads and data entry with a high degree of accuracy
Convert and organize process documentation from PDF to Excel
Records & Documentation
Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation
Contribute to one-off cleanup projects as assigned
Collaboration & Operations
Collaborate with the accounting team on active tasks and initiatives
Adhere to task deadlines and keep team members informed of progress
Escalate issues or discrepancies in a timely and appropriate manner
Attend team meetings and onboarding activities, including shadowing during the first week
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
High attention to detail and accuracy in all work product
Ability to manage task-oriented, process-driven work efficiently
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
Willingness to take on varied assignments and adapt to shifting priorities
EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS
Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; completion of core accounting coursework required
Junior or Senior level standing preferred
Experience through coursework, internships, or administrative/accounting roles
