Senior Account Manager

Location: Remote (US/CA/RSA)
Department: Sales
Reports to: Head of Sales
Role Type: Full Time

About the Role

This is the first Senior Account Manager seat at Blacksmith. You inherit a live book and own one job: find the work our clients already need and sell it to them. Not a service desk. Not a status-report machine. A seller who happens to own the accounts.

We have built a book a significant book of business in recurring revenue across website support, PPC, SEO, GEO, GMB and traditional marketing programs, managed until now by project managers, strategists and sales in the gaps between everything else they do.

With this, we are now hiring a hunter who wants a warm territory.

What You Will Own

Account Growth

  • Build and execute an account plan for every client in your portfolio

  • Know what they sell, what they are trying to do next year and where Blacksmith should be in that picture

  • Bring them the proposal before they think to ask

Commercial Ownership

  • Scope, quote, negotiate and close, carrying every deal from signal to signature in Salesforce

  • No handing warm leads to someone else to close

Account Leadership

  • Quarterback the relationship alongside Project Managers and Strategists who own delivery

  • Run quarterly business reviews built on real performance data, ending in a recommendation with a number attached

  • Spot churn risk early and handle renewals without drama

  • Keep Salesforce current without anyone asking

What You Need to Bring

  • 5+ years managing and growing a book of business in account management, client services or a hybrid seller role, across multiple industries

  • A real number you carried and hit, with specifics on what you closed against it and how you built the pipeline

  • Marketing fluency: a credible conversation about paid search, organic visibility, conversion and what a redesign actually buys a client

  • Commercial confidence in scoping, pricing and negotiation, with no flinching when it is time to ask for the business

  • Access to senior stakeholders, the CMO or VP of Marketing, not just the marketing coordinator

  • Self-direction. This is the first seat of its kind here. Nobody is building your pipeline for you

Marketing Agency experience required, selling retainer and project work side by side, Salesforce and a background that includes a hunting seat before an account management seat.

What This Role Is Not

It is not a support or service desk seat. It is not passive renewal management. It is not a title upgrade for a client services manager who wants to stop selling. It is not micromanaged, which is a benefit and a requirement at the same time.

If the words quota and commission make you uncomfortable, this is the wrong seat.

Compensation

Base salary plus commission on expansion and new project revenue you close, with tiered rates that scale as you clear gates. Full details covered in your first conversation with our Head of Sales.
