How you’ll add value…
The Senior Sales Specialist, Gene Synthesis is the primary driver of revenue for a portfolio of Gene Synthesis products and services. The portfolio includes solutions for lentiviral and AAV production, genome editing including CRISPR, and targeted gene and cell therapies The qualified candidate will be a technical domain expert in the Gene Synthesis space and responsible for building and maintaining strong business relationships. As a Senior Sales Specialist, you will generate revenue by ensuring client satisfaction and driving retention, renewals, and expansion of new or existing business. You will also develop and execute strategic account plans, and coordinate with internal teams to deliver solutions that meet the client’s needs. This role will be located near San Diego.
What you’ll do…
- Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the synthesis portfolio, research customer needs, and identify how our solutions can address those needs.
- Develop and/or expand key customer relationships and implement strategies for expanding the customer base primarily in the leading Pharma and Biotech companies.
- Achieve and exceed annual sales goals within the Gene Synthesis portfolio by developing and successfully executing consultative selling and account management strategies.
- To perform continuous lead generation, account mapping, and identify decision-making units to sell effectively in a solution-oriented team selling approach.
- Develop and maintain technical domain expertise. To constantly monitor and assess market dynamics, competitive activities, business risks, and opportunities. Report these findings to the organization and address them through tailored tactical sales plans.
- To organize and conduct capabilities presentations to existing and potential new customers.
- Work as part of a nimble team and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders with the ultimate goal of bringing value to the customer that leads to revenue growth.
- Work cross-functionally with Regional Sales, Technical Support, and Product Management ensuring effective collaboration of resources to deliver on client needs.
What you’ll bring…
- Bachelor's Degree required (a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in a Life Sciences related field is strongly preferred)
- 5+ years of relevant Genomics experience in a commercial role
- 2+ years of proven track record in scientific consulting on topics related to genetic engineering, genome editing, cell and gene therapies, and molecular biology lab techniques.
- Demonstrates keen business acumen, sound decision-making, analytical and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment; a consultative approach to managing client relationships
- Confident communication (written and oral) skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders of internal and external organizations
- Experience logging opportunities, tasks, and events within a CRM (i.e., Salesforce or similar)
- Must have a valid US driver’s license
Working Conditions/ Schedule
- Willing and able to travel overnight within the United States as required for customer meetings, internal business meetings, seminars, and conferences. (at least 50% of the time)
- Home office based, located within a 1-hour drive of San Diego

United States Base Compensation: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00The posted pay range for this position is an estimate based on current market data and internal pay structure. Final compensation may vary above or below this range depending on factors such as experience, education (including licensure and certifications), qualifications, performance, and geographic location, among other relevant business or organizational needs.
