JOB DESCRIPTION
We are currently seeking a proven, proactive, and performance-driven Government Account Manager for our Government Accounts group, working daily with our government and large education provider customers. The Government Account Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of all Government client deliverables for one or more accounts. They are responsible for maintaining a high level of client satisfaction by meeting all relationship, communication, project, and governance goals set by the client and Vertafore. The role demands leveraging working relationships across the Government customer's various teams and departments.
Core Requirements and Responsibilities:
Essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:• Expand Vertafore's positive relationship with Vertafore's government customers by:
o Coordinating and managing the client governance plan and cadence
o Coordinating and managing the client communication plan and cadence
o Managing day-to-day sales and operational items as they arise by understanding the issue, creating accountability within Vertafore and the client, and driving the items to resolution across multiple teams and organizations
o Understanding and resolving account and billing concerns
o Coordination and management of the customer's multiple migrations, consolidations, custom software development, and other projects related to Vertafore's products and solutions within the assigned account(s)• Retain existing revenue through building and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction• Expand Vertafore's footprint by selling Vertafore products and services into new and existing accounts
o Conduct discovery sessions, product demonstrations, and technical presentations tailored to specific client/prospect needs.
o Design and propose comprehensive technical solutions leveraging Sircon for States vast configurability, articulating clear value propositions.
o Address technical questions, concerns, and objections during the sales cycle.
o Contribute to RFPs/RFIs, SOWs, and technical documentation.• Establish collaborative relationships with the customer's directors, chiefs, deputies and Commissioners.• Expeditiously and effectively resolve customer concerns and strategic objectives• Engage with Vertafore senior leadership and internal teams to quickly resolve customer account items• Regularly perform against individual quarterly activity targets tied to specific relationship objectives• Deliver support and insight into the content of the Government Account Plans and Pursuits• Attend national conferences representing Vertafore and engaging with current and potential customers• Lead Vertafore's annual government user conference• Drive customer enablement by equipping state agency partners with tools, training, and best practices while continuously identifying and implementing process improvements that enhance efficiency and service outcomes.
o Develop, customize, and deliver engaging product training programs for new and existing customers, both virtually and in-person.
o Work with the Learning/Sales Enablement team to create comprehensive training materials, including user guides, video tutorials, FAQs, and knowledge base articles.
o Assess training effectiveness and continuously refine content and delivery methods based on feedback and product updates.
o Stay up-to-date with product features, industry trends, and best practices to ensure training content is current and relevant.
o Engage directly with current customers to understand their day-to-day workflows and operational challenges through job shadowing.
o Conduct formal process reviews to identify areas for efficiency gains, best practice adoption, and optimal utilization of our product.
o Provide proactive guidance and recommendations to customers based on observations and reviews, helping them maximize their investment.
o Collaborate with internal product and development teams to relay customer insights and advocate for features that enhance user experience and process flow.
o Develop and share tailored resources or training refreshers based on specific customer needs identified during shadowing and reviews.
o Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Proven track record of achieving goals and delivering on customer expectations and priorities• Demonstrated ability to follow sound business ethics when executing job responsibilities to build and maintain customer confidence• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with an aptitude for building strong, meaningful c-level client relationships• Understanding of Salesforce.com and other key sales technologies used for Business Development, Opportunity creation, and activity tracking• Experience within a multi-dimensional operating environment is essential (i.e., not a mono-line, single-market environment).• Self-motivated and able to work independently
Qualifications• 5-10 years of related software sales and account management experience• Bachelor's degree preferred
