Position Summary:
The Director, Access & Reimbursement (DAR) leads and coaches a team of Access & Reimbursement Managers (ARMs) who are responsible for access & fulfillment related activities across nephrology healthcare provider accounts and executing on the patient access field reimbursement strategy. The Director, Access & Reimbursement is focused on ensuring healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers are enabled with the information, tools and resources needed to ensure patient ability to start and stay on therapy. They will also foster compliant communications across multiple internal matrix organization including Patient Experience, Specialty Pharmacy, Market Access and Field Sales.

In this role the Director, Access & Reimbursement will mentor, develop, and lead a diverse and talented team who are competent and skilled in nephrology, the healthcare marketplace, and in access & fulfillment. They will be responsible for access & fulfillment related impact for Travere prescribed patients starting or staying on therapy. There is a preference for candidates to reside in or near Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; or, any other city within assigned region with direct access to a major airport.
Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for hiring, mentoring, developing and leading a field access & reimbursement team who are responsible for access & fulfillment related activities in their local geography.

  • Ensure healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers are enabled with the information, tools and resources needed to ensure patient ability to start and stay on therapy.

  • Leverages KPIs & analytics to optimize field execution.

  • Develop both long and short-term strategic planning for the team and manage seamless team execution of related tactics in a fast-paced environment.

  • Create a pull-through region vision, create team culture, motivate performance, forge valuable customer relationships, and achieve the team’s overall goals.

  • Effectively deliver and manage performance, engage team members, provide coaching, and respond to situations affecting team members.

  • Provide management oversight and training to their team to ensure that all team members are in compliance with regulations and relevant internal policies.

  • Coach the team to ensure maximum performance in expediting patient access.

  • Demonstrate core competencies in identifying, understanding and addressing access & fulfillment related patient obstacles including knowledge of pharmacy benefit, specialty pharmacy, and REMS.

  • Develop comprehensive field access & reimbursement regional business plan to optimize patient initiation experience and pull through metrics.

  • Be an expert in access & reimbursement of the product and be able to provide training and direction to the team.

  • Ensure strong cross functional collaboration and communication with field sales team and leadership in support of our customers.

  • Create an effective communication cadence between ARMs, hub services, REMS, specialty pharmacy, payer account team.

  • Spend time in the field and virtual calls in order to support individual development, help with issue resolution as well as provide coaching, direction and feedback.

  • Cultivate relationships with key accounts to foster positive acceptance of FILSPARI onboarding process.

  • Train team members on key technical information related to coverage or change in payer coverage criteria.

  • Ensure pull through key access and fulfillment messages in customer engagement.

  • Analyze regional performance and identify gaps in ARM capabilities and work across the organization to address gaps.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered.

  • 10 years of pharma/biotech or related experience. Specialty pharmaceutical, nephrology, rare disease, REMs experience preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience working in specialty medicines that includes deep understanding of access & reimbursement landscape (HUBs, Payers, Specialty Pharmacies, etc.)

  • 3+ years of experience as a field reimbursement manager.

  • 3+ years of experience as a first line team leader with demonstrated success in team coaching, capability development and people development.

Additional Skills/Experience:

  • Cross functional experience in leading training, access marketing, operations, and/or payer projects.

  • Experience in managing access complexities associated with a new to market medication.

  • Experience with specialty pharmacy products / products acquired through Specialty Pharmacy networks.

  • Proven ability to build relationships with HCPs, office staff, sales team, and Hub counterparts.

  • Comprehensive understanding of private/commercial insurance reimbursement, government payer Medicare Part D, VA, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience in helping to educate on reimbursement processes including foundational knowledge of benefit verifications, prior authorization, appeals, denials, letters of medical necessity, pre-determination requirement.

  • Computer skills (basic Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Ability to resolve issues / educate virtually (within access & reimbursement / case management).

  • Well-organized with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage shifting responsibilities in a dynamic, cross-functional teamwork environment.

  • Excellent collaboration skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and manage complexity.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

  • Previous line management experience with the ability to effectively manage performance, engage team members, provide coaching, and respond to situations affecting staff.

  • Successful record of creating and managing complex project plans, timelines, budgets, and critical paths.

  • Ability to adapt to modification and changes to project plans, demonstrating flexibility to implement new strategies and tactics to accommodate these changes.

  • The position is field-based and the candidate must live within the region or immediate adjacency with access to a major airport.

  • Must have valid driver’s license and a reliable and appropriate personal vehicle that meets minimum requirements to conduct business for the company.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% (Predominately within region).

  • The ability to perform face to face work with customers, colleagues and/or onsite in San Diego, and the ability to satisfactorily meet credentialling requirements for access to healthcare facilities and customer sites within your territory on an ongoing basis, are essential job functions of this position.

Target Base Pay Range:

$189,000.00 - $246,000.00
